Has anyone else heard about the District Merchant positions being eliminated or downsized? Most of the DM’s in my district are being moved back into store management roles.

I now report to a Center Core DM. Hand bag, jewelry, Shoes and intimates. I like it better. I'm not getting 10 emails with the same information. For the most part All the communication is combined.... Very streamlined...Priorities and event updates. Or changes in event execution. They don't have time for endless emails and over anylizing.
RTW, kids, mens, Home, falls under another DM
Not sure about Cosmetics and Big ticket.
I would think so, all I ever see or hear a DM do is regurgitate sales numbers that anyone can pull from the portal. Gee thanks for that mind numbing 30 minute number fest!
Yes. This is happening in Ohio. They are being placed in the stores. I would imagine seeing a single DM coordinator to coordinate assortment and stock concerns.
Unless you are high volume you never say them.
I never needed a DM to send me the same directive or report that's avalible on the portal. Nor do we need the daily pre sale recap that the store mgr gets.
I dont understand what a DM does. All I ever see them do, is to come into a store and point...
My job was eliminated earlier this year. Working for Macys s—s and got worse with time. All of the stores will close eventually. Get your resume ready and take their package and find something way better.
there is gonna be massive lay offs next year.. been with the company 30 years? 20 years? 10 years? if your a manager look forward to your package. if your a associate making too much money look for fake complaints, fake right ups, etc. if your loss prevention they may get rid of assistant managers. but will cut your job if you make too much and report it as part time .blue mercury CEO is out, story is a dollar store which macys ruined the concept the person who sold it created it is out too , backstage is salvation army, last act is a way not to use your coupons which non work on anything anyway. its also good will store( bait and switch ) you have open sell in shoes which commission is going fast whats left of it now. macys is preparing for the drones , robots by amazon. plus their amazon go concept will be ready.. this will be the final nail in the macys coffin.
Wow! I feel for those of you left. I went through this for 5 years with my position finally eliminated early this year. I am in a better place now mentally and physically, as the stress takes a toll on your mental and physical health. I can now finally enjoy the Holidays with my family and friends instead of worrying if I have a job after the Holiday. I can not stress enough about getting prepared financially . Also, get your resume together now!
