Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Tuesday, December 3rd in US--Quarterly cut notification date?

Hearing this is the date a selective ax is going to fall. Corporate and field positions to be impacted. Approaching 500 across US. No other details.

12/3 would be the notification date, with 45 day window to find another internal position and the usual separation package. Blue badges are the targets.

Hope I am wrong.

@11TUpn0J-5jaj asked "Will BXB survive this time ?" Does anybody know what the headcount is these days at BXB. I think it was 1200 when I was LR'ed in 2016. Think I heard that the maximum number they ever had there was 1800. So much, for the original plan of growing the headcount to 5000 and having 9 building.

Seems like an odd date given they will be paying people for both Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Why is that odd? They'll be paying them regardless.

First, 12/3 is after Thanksgiving, so they get paid for it regardless of being laid off or not, just like any other employee.

Second, Christmas and New Year's are paid holidays, so whether they're paid as part of the company holiday or paid as part of their 45-day notice, it's all the same.

The only difference is that instead of the impacted employee having to use 3 days PTO for the year-end shutdown, s/he now gets paid for those 3 days as part of their 45-day notice. But it's cheaper for Cisco to pay that than to carry everyone until after the first of the year and then let them go because you're paying them for another, what, 3 weeks? And face it, how much productive work really gets done between 12/3 and 1/2? A fraction of what normally gets done in a month the other 11 months.

When I was laid off in 2016, you got 1 month if you did not sign the agreement. If you did sign the agreement, you got 3 months plus 1 week for every year for year 10 and up to 19 years and then 2 weeks for years 20 onwards.

Cisco Jasper should have more layoffs, it's a fraud

How about Spark/Teams? How much was spent on that, and are any customers actually using it? You can't even give it away. Zero value

BXB should be long gone after the mess they caused pushing "scaled Agile". That trainwreck of a process led to about 3/4 a billion in money down the drain trying to develop a cloud based call manager where database guys were developing UX, UX was developing calling, media guys were doing database and all QA was fired since they couldn't program.

Yet, those that pushed it (and more importantly those that embraced it) are still around... Some promoted even. As is the Cisco way.

I was LR'd on July 31. I was a 20 year employee. The amount of your severance package depends on your tenure w/ the company. Basic package is 3 months severance/base pay plus "in lieu of notice pay" (2 weeks) plus add'l pay if you were employed for 10 years or more plus add'l pay for 20+ year employees, plus unused PTO. COBRA payments are paid in (grossed up) lump sum to provide you w/ net payments that match your current medical/dental/vision elections; 3 months for employees w/ less than 10 years w/ add'l months (up to 6) for 20+ year employees.

Nov. 13th is gonna be a bloodbath. Things don't look well financially and CSCO will miss by a huge margin. Guidance will be -2 to 0 for the next quarter.

That comment about 2 months and 3 months is based on experience of those who have been laid off recently.

Someone posted 2 months + 3 months if you waive your right to sue. What is that statement based on?

"Seems like an odd date given they will be paying people for both Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays."

I would like to remind you that they did one in 2018 at the precise same time, similar number of people impacted.

CX hiring frenzy. Most do not know what they are doing. Very green, no customer experience, ask a lot of very basic questions and the ones that have been with the company for awhile do not know how to operate to reach their charter. Very sad.
