Open positions now for these support staff. Were those laid off over 50 hrs of age? Is PXD engaging in age discrimination by laying off over 50 people to reduce medical costs, etc they might have in the near future. Just ridiculous to dump all this talent only to hire back for same positions!

Don't know why your comment was downvoted. you are absolutely correct, the first round was for people of a certain age and up, then a little bit lower age and up for the second round, third round was open to everyone, and 4th round was here's your pink slip.
Wow I didn’t realize so many but hurt g&g people on here
Still looking to fill a particular Geoscience Position. I am very well qualified and recruiters have contacted me over and over for this job. Forget it. Not interested in this company who dumped their highly qualified employees. Even if VSP. Ridiculous. Should have kept the people. What was the purpose of these VSP’s only to try to refill these positions?
I think Pioneer is at the, "Beginning of the End." Corporations like nations have a rhythm to life, they fail from within. There is a birth, growth, rapid growth, plateau, and death. The GEOs would call it a bell shaped curve, you have a beginning and an end. The cause I suspect several reasons for the decline: the stated goal 1mmbtu/day caused ballooning of costs that didn't come out of cash flow, growth pains from growing small to large, everything needed to be upsized, new digs for Corp Office, and finally how wall street investors look at oil companies more based on immediate profits and not future growth. In many ways it was the perfect storm, and as anyone that has worked when money gets tight, it is the employees that pay the price.
Ethical companies call back those who were laid off if their situation improves. Slightly less ethical companies lay off people and then SLIGHTLY CHANGE the job description so they can fill the vacated positions but say “well it’s a different position; that’s why we aren’t calling you back.” PXD is neither of these. You have to go down further on that ethical ladder to reach them. Tons of jobs for EXACTLY the positions vacated are now posted.
We thought SS gave the packages because he is such a nice and compassionate human being! But then folks that know him well and his past life have a second thought!
If you get nothing else from this site remember one thing: no matter what your GPA was, who you’re related to, what your job title is or how many right shift TPs you receive Pioneer will one day consider you to be too old, too resistant to change and/or a detriment to the bottom line. It’s inevitable, my friends.
All the complaining on this site won’t change a thing! The VSP and ISP basically was a payoff to not sue! Pioneer has deeper pockets so they made a calculated decision to offer attractive packages! People have families and bills so they took it!
You got it! Go figure, I’ll tell that recruiter NO, I know that job he contacted me for is at PXD! Such LIARS ! Obviously PXD is NOT being honest with shareholders on cost reductions. Issuing public statements about reductions, saving money, etc then turn around and hire back for those eliminated people! This needs to be exposed and people prosecuted!
Please be respectful to animals
That’s all HR knows! Hire and fire! Otherwise the company will have to get rid of these useless HR animals
Welcome to Pioneer! We do things differently!

I was wondering the same thing when I was looking on Indeed.com for a job and saw my old position listed! I went on PXD’s website and was surprised to see not just one but two of the same positions listed. There were two of us that took the VSP and a third person was let go via ISP. They hired one of the temps that was in the department and now they are trying to fill the other two vacant positions. It is like Pioneer is talking out of both sides of their mouth, telling the shareholders, see we are cutting costs but then going right back to running up expenses hiring people to fill the vacant positions.
And if those positions were vacated due to VSP’s Management should have found people from within and have those taking VSP TRAIN their replacements so do not have to hire from outside! What’s the purpose of reducing costs through VSP and ISP only to hire replacements from outside. It is more expensive to hire than keep on staff or train someone on the inside.
Doesn’t make sense. If position needs to be filled because the person took VSP, then FIND someone left in the company to do the job! Doesn’t make sense to do VSP and ISP to reduce G&A costs, restructure costs, etc the. HIRE again to fill those positions!
They are only backfilling positions vacated by vsp’s
Were these people involuntarily laid off? IT Geoscience Applications support and Geoscience Analyst positions? Recruiters have contacted me for these positions and am p-ss-d off at what Pioneer has done to these people. That this company Laid off people to increase shareholder value then are surreptitiously trying to hire people for positions they saw unnecessary and laid off those people. Correct me if I am wrong.
It was voluntary till a specific date then involuntary was coming.
Only a few managers who were attached to VPs were able to decline the packages and survive the m—acre too
Old folks were voluntary
