XOM should allow us to work from home. Myself and many others are many times more productive working from home.

Yes, this is true. It’s not a public announcement. It was announced internally. Friends at Chevron have told me about this and you can see discussions about it on their board (mostly them b!tching that they didn’t get 100% work from home as an option...kinda spoiled). They also have 9/80’s so it’s a pretty nice deal.

Vacation time is only good if you can take it. When I come back from vacation my life is such a he-l that I regret taking time off. Minimum staffing sucks.

XOM doesn’t see remote work as a way to improve attrition or morale, they said a confirmation that they can ship your job to someone overseas and are working diligently to do so. They have no problem with remote work, as long as it’s not in the United States of America.

I think BK said it best. “That is not who we [xom] are”. What more needs to be said?

Some of us have wanted flexibility to work from home for decades. It has never happened. You have to decide for yourself how important working from home is for you and that it will most likely never happen here.

I think we learned a lot last year about what is possible with remote work. Some companies are adjusting how their employees work allowing them to work from home. Other companies are realizing just how much work can be done remotely from anywhere including lower cost countries.

Interesting.

Some of our LT did a study with some major tech companies like Microsoft, Google, etc., on how to improve attrition. They suggested such methods as increased vacation, financial rewards, remote work place options, amongst a few others.

Our LT said "no" to all suggestions made.
