Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

What are you waiting for?

I left a bit ago after a long bbb career. I'm seeing more and more long timers leaving every day almost. Just wondering, for those of you full timers that are staying, not looking for anything but really rely on an income for your families? What are you waiting for??? If you think it's gonna get better, it isn't. If you think you'll be getting a decent severance offer forget it. You'll be tossed out without such a deal because the company is going under. Please realize they're just using you.

It's definitely a personal choice but my Sears store did not pay enough to justify paying off a house or supporting kids in college as a reason to stay.

Were you a SGM @qxt+1j5Qioi3?

I stayed at Sears probably five years too long and got comments like this all the time from people that left. My answer was simple: Easy money, I had a house to pay off, and I had kids to get through college. What I found out after digging around though was those that kept asking why I stayed were in miserable jobs and talked to me to make themselves feel better about their decision to leave. With that being said though, I did have a back up plan just in case I got laid off before I was ready. Anyway, most left for the first opportunity they came across instead of waiting for the right one. Ironically the tables have turned because they’ve each been through multiple jobs since they left, where I waited for the one job I wanted and have been happily employed for seven years. Even in situations like this the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence. Best wishes to everybody.

@oyw+1j5Qioi3 Where is this magical place you live? Believing in the turnaround plan? Do you believe in Santa as well? So all the reports in the media that present nothing but factual data are incorrect but we should believe in the turnaround plan that has been dissected to be not enough? Now with reports of selling bonds and their ridiculous plan of debt exchange further proving the company is done for you still believe? Power to ya, I hope you believe as much in finding another job before it is too late.

Because maybe some of us believe in the company and the turnaround plan in place? And in the event the company does fold (and I think someone who only reads what the media tells them doesn't have a clue about what we are actually doing to make significant changes), we know we are highly marketable and can easily find a new job at that time. Right now our efforts are on turning things around. Its called character. The bigger question is why are you wasting your time posting on here?

I believe this company is in route to bankruptcy unless something drastically changes. But the question is for you, Why post here? You left and you still come here for the dumpster fire sale that is this company at the moment. Most that are staying, stay for their own personal choice. I doubt most think its going to get better anytime soon. Just baffles me that ex employees come here to post the same toxic posts over and over. Its time for you to move on and enjoy your non BBBY life. You are free and enjoy your peace. FYI, all retail companies use and abuse their employees... head over to reddit, twitter, here scope out Target, Walmart, and Amazon #allthesame
