Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

How do you deal with micromanagement?

I really hate it. Every step of mine is monitored and I simply cannot work in such an atmosphere. I used to somehow ignore it, but now I can barely concentrate on work. It is still not clear to me why micromanagers do micromanage and how they do not understand how counterproductive it is. I would somehow understand the reasons if I had only recently been employed here, but I've been here for a long time.
I guess this is a common problem in other companies as well, but I have some friends who work in other supermarket chains and they say that in their case the situation is not nearly as bad as mine here.

Everyone I have known, that has been with WFM a long time, and has gotten pushed out says it starts with micromanaging. They are constantly monitoring what you're doing hoping to find something they can fire you for, but really they want you to get fed up and quit so they don't have to pay for unemployment. I know this is what happens from friends experiences and from my own. It happened to me as well.

some STLs and TLs really have control issues and want to insert their power/control into all actions or merchandising throughout store/depts...ive seen some real tyrants over the years at wholefoods...floriduh region known for its nepotism in leadership has some real gems at the helms and they install a lotta yes men into lower positions to validate their control...
