Does WD also give package in India as well to the laid off employees? If yes, then what and how much is that?

FYI, I don't believe they need to inform you about being laid off if they pay your 60 days salary (the WARN period) + package.

They got rid of some older people. They made a huge mistake unfortunately. So much engineer talent exited and no one to back fill. They think hiring fresh college grads will fix the problem. Especially the development engineering teams. Good luck on that future product. Quality is already dropping... how many scraps/reworks now? Quality is everything in this industry.

There have been some layoffs at Great Oaks today. I am only aware of Manuf. Eng and some wafer fab operations. I am told the ME layoff is 5%. I don't have any idea about the extent of the layoffs in WF Ops. I do know of two managers in WF ops who were let go.

There're more people than usual in my building. My manager also scheduled a group meeting, which is very unusual. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid. Well, in any case, good luck all.

So if it is not next week, you will not see WARN report, you would only see it on the day of layoff.

That's not how WARN works. Companies need to report/file 60 days before the effective date. Companies used to notify people on the effective date, but that means there is 60-day window of rumors and uncertainties. Now they just let people know on the reporting date, keep them on the payroll until the effective date. That's what happened with the last layoff in May. Those who were affected were still in the system (Workday, address book etc.) but no access to any resources until the end of July. That Siva guy from Flash BU last day was coincide with the effective date, so he was probably laid off too as preparation for Kioxia merger.

WD only reports to the WARN report after the 60 days have passed. They say it is out of respect for those affected.

I haven't seen it on California WARN report yet. So either this is BS, small number, or outside CA.

Let’s just say all the bigwigs got summoned to somewhere this weekend for the big firework show on Wednesday.

Why the end of the month? Because they paid for yours benefits through the month and they despise their employees
