Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Store closings and layoffs

Can anybody shed some light on possible store closings or layoffs? There are too many rumors going around and no official info to support any of them.

Looks like there is more layoffs within Central TA (according to LinkedIn today) - if they have no one to hire - my guess is store staff will be next!

Bank of America is predicting job losses (in the overall economy) of 175,000 per month in the 1st quarter of 2023. Get ready people!!! Even if we individually don’t lose our jobs, so many others around us will be losing theirs. This is how the fabric of society is unraveled. There’s consequences to years of bad choices, and we are reaping as a country what we have sown. May God have mercy!

Plans were put on hold due to record sales and foot traffic because of covid. Those plans are being updated and will be implemented in the fourth quarter, My understanding is that most specialist positions are going away, Full timers are going to be let go and "footprint reduction" is taking effect meaning 15-20% of stores will close.

We're not in their special club. They take care of themselves and each other. Isn't there another Vegas or-y coming soon?

Mass layoff of customers will continue as the clueless corporate "leaders" continue to cut all payroll and resources(like air conditioning) out of the stores.

Rumors that are likely to come true:
Back end/receiving clerk deleted
3rd party flatbed
Kitchen cabinet specialist deleted
Reorganizing of management (Fewer ASMs, different departments covered).
PSE deleted (Many stores have already deleted this position and make high volume stores cover)

The big one: Multi-department specialists. Apparently has been tested and may go into effect soon so as to improve coverage in less desirable departments and cut back on number of specialists. Might benefit the specialists who stay as they can sell anything and make SpH easier (albeit, threshold will be lifted higher) for bonus.

Less likely to happen:
Deletion of cashiers. It has been tossed around that self checkout will replace cashiers, but this is highly unlikely as many customers hate the self checkout machines due to the time it takes to scan through everything. It's also problematic for customers who buy large items (Wood,Drywall, appliances) as they can technically use the self checkout but as a giant hassle.

There may be others but those are the current ones being tossed around
