Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Gracenote Town Hall

Sujit's doublespeak sounds really grim, but I'm not even sure I'm interpreting it correctly. What is the point of this?

I was laid off in Jan 2023 in California. I applied for unimployment and got it for 6 months. I did not have any issues. Done googling shows that severance is not considered income and does not affect getting unimployment.

Some people wait to get unimployment until after severance runs out. That way they continue to have money coming in.

yeah you get unemployment after your weeks of severance are over. are you claiming before the end?

Re: I was laid off. They NOT ONLY cut my severance in half after 20 years of service,

Are you trying to file unemployment while on severance? I’ve never heard of anyone who was laid off from Nielsen having this issue.

Omg! How can they do that? You were laid off through no fault of your own!

I was laid off. They NOT ONLY cut my severance in half after 20 years of service, they also are trying to block my unemployment claim! I have to now appeal on a video call with the unemployment office-judge and Nielsen reps.

People, find a new job, get out of this toxic environment! From what I’m hearing, they have cut severance in half! Time to go, find a better place, they’re out there!

His allergy to accepting responsibility for acting except his own alleged good attitude is infuriating. Difficulties transitioning work? Our fault, replacements do it better. Poor morale? That's our own moral failing, we should be happy and proud that we're sacrificing for Nielsen. Guys, Nielsen had the money and interest to buy Gracenote, so it's super disrespectful not to love them blindly for it. If we need to work a weird shift to train our replacement, we should do it gladly. And guess what, they totally budgeted for merit increases this year, so if we still have jobs in August or September or whenever they decide we should get them, they're ours! The contempt radiating from him... This guy stinks.

So a year to 18 months until it’s complete. Anyone else feel warm and fuzzy?

We will be training our replacements over the next 12-18 months. Replacements will be located in India or Mexico.

He basically said we’re laying you all off and you need to act happy about it.
