Charity begins at home. A business should take care of its employees first and foremost and only after that, assuming they have the resources, should they engage in charitable giving.

To do otherwise is hypocrisy.

Why is anyone on this site?....to vent....to get out what is happening in every region....to hear other TM stories....to speak the truth....to know we r not alone...to stop the WFM lies....to encourage others....to be helpful....to listen.....because our health insurance doesn't cover this maddness even after the 3500 deductible.Ok???

Those old benefits used to include real cash-the new child baby bonus, the family bereavement money, the quarterly t.i.p.s payout, better formulated gainsharing..etc..now they have us fightbover scraps falling off a.c.gallo's and mackeys plates...lol

Ooh the lack of health care and the plight of our part time workforce has touched some nerves..i remember when most team members were full time and this job provided good benefits(if i could dig up those old packages, who remembers the t.i.p.s payouts?).this company and its core values are a sham and just lip service to the guilt of our gluten allergic privileged shoppers..quit being delusion about were you work..they want to maximize wall street wealth at the littlest cost(pay and benefits) as possible.

I had never heard of this site before yesterday. I overheard a TM in my department talking about it so I came in here thinking I'd find out about what was happening in some of the other regions, rumors about future layoffs, and that type of stuff. I'm mad at the layoff and the way it was handled too. But this post was at the top of the page and it's ridiculous. That's why I'm here. Why are you here? You don't even work for the company anymore. You got paid to leave, so leave.

@FcWzPZI-2vho Why are you even reading this site if you are so in LOVE with WFM? This is a place where people can tell the REAL STORY! Everyone has a different situation and it's always good to have another job before you quit so leave these people alone. I LOVE THIS SITE and I got a severance so I am not complaining. What happened to this company is a shame. I was a customer and big fan before I worked there and was subject to all the craziness. Certainly not the 70's attitude on how this company was founded. Good luck and be kinder to those at work. Maybe you can change this horrible company one TM at a time!

Again, if you're not happy at WFM then find another job! If you're miserable working here but won't leave, it must mean that you aren't skilled enough to find employment elsewhere. You posters are like people who are in bad relationships and complain all day but then go back to your a$$hole boyfriend's house at night. Either shut up and work or leave. I'm sick of hearing you all whine every day at work.

Last post correct! We can't go to acupuncture or holistic health services. If u get to go on an, "immersion" it's great but a week doesn't change your health. There is no support from our so called "healthiest grocery store." Charity does and, should begin at home."

Once again somebody is misinterpreting the post..its not whether or not whole kids and whole whatever fund charity drive but the notion that the company doesnt care about its own employees health..not the smoke and mirrors tricks of green treknpoints and health screenings to increase your tm discount %%...get real wholefoods and insure your workers..enough with the part time workforce dodge...

This post is about current or former TMs who aren't happy with the layoff and are now trying to find fault in EVERYTHING about WFM. The layoff sucked and was handled poorly. I agree with that. But if you don't think the company should donate to charity or live up to any of the other core values that don't involve your own personal wallets or piggybanks, maybe you should go work somewhere else. If you're still at WFM months after the layoff, it either means you like working here or you cant get a job anywhere else. If you're not still at WFM, why are you still on this site? Move on.

This post is about the hypocrisy of our conscious kapitalism..here we have charity and fund drives to help people (which is good) but it also serves to assuage the guilt of our over privileged shoppers..and its a sham that we as a company cany be as conscious with our kapital to take care of our own team members health care..ive seen our health benefits decimated over the years and also the access to these limited benefits is restricted now in the name of paying wall street..mackey had the nerve to criticize obamacare but our health insurance and who was covered had been cut before that law took effect..

@FcWzPZI-1qmb I do agree that no one should criticize charity but perhaps the person that posted the comment is referring to the sincerity of the company that boosts about all the great things they do. Just playing devils advocate. It was one of my favorite things about working there but I did it for my own satisfaction to know I might be helping in a small way. Now that I was laid off I too wonder just how sincere it all really is. Sorry to say.

This is the dumbest thread I've seen on this site so far. So everyone is on here complaining about how WFM lost its way and strayed from its values, and your response is to criticize charitable giving? Looks like some team members have lost their way too. Criticize the layoff, corporate greed, the attention given to Wall Street, or anything else but don't criticize charity.

I have shared my money with team members out of my own pocket when they couldn't afford their medicine! Charity starts at home….we have team members that qualify for food stamps come on whole foods get real! I am not donating to there crap so stop begging me too. I have friends here that I am gonna help! Look at that crazy deductible on our insurance it's INSANE and I don't even wanna' hear the damn lie it's because of Obama care that our insurance went up!! LIES. Save that Kool-aide crap for an idiot that will believe it, cause it isn't going to be from this "team member"

@FcWzPZI-ypo....reasonable and ethical????...lol like having 60% of your workforce part time so you as a corporation can get out of giving them health care which is kind of a necessity in our expensive-nothing-country??? Ethical to pay wall street hedgefund guys that money instead??

When it came time to do insurance elections for next year, I elected out of payroll deduction these so called charities of wfm. I'd rather donate locally. Or at least charities that I have heard of or believe in.
