Thread regarding CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield layoffs

41 more people laid off! And some were really high performers. What is happening???

So the long rumored layoffs happened. 41 more people In IT. And some of them were really bad-especially in Digital Factory. Rick brought in his buddy and he cleaned out some really good people. It’s clear there’s no “fail fast.” This isn’t the CareFirst I’ve known. And there’s no commitment it won’t happen again. Update your resumes!

Terrible business decision especially during this time when so many are struggling mentally.

Was told that some positions were ‘eliminated’, and the lay off was a Business decision. Seems somewhat fishy considering the amount of work IT has, and it makes one wonder how many people were let go. Very sad... I thought this was a well managed company. Guess I was wrong. Best of luck to everyone.

Stop thinking this is about poor performance. This is about $$$$$. Get rid of anyone who has a decent salary and a pension - even if they're close to retirement. No more high salaries. Job descriptions re-written with nice titles that make them look attractive but smaller salaries. All to buy Brand new benefits to hire the younger and cheaper while the mainstays of CF, the long termers get demoted and have vacation benefits taken away. Wouldn't be surprised to find the C-Suite is writing big paychecks to themselves though with cushy parachutes for when things go south. The C-Suiters. Lovely bunch of folks making you miserable while they live large and cut your pay and your job.

I agree! I’ve been with CareFirst a long time and I’ve never seen anything like this. DK plays favorites and if you’re not one of them, you’re gone. And they’re recreating the “old boys club” from Aetna. I’ve been holding off thinking that things were going to get better.
