We've lost three people in our department today, all of them are over 50. Considering that all of them were exemplary employees, I can't help but wonder if their age had something to do with this.
Anybody else noticed that the age of those laid off skewers towards older rather than younger?
I do know that I was earning at the top if not the top of the others with my same title. (Same mid 30s poster as earlier)
Older people usually command higher salary since theyve accrued raises and promotions over the years. First thing they probably look at in these cuts.

30 yr old let go from ERC.
The age of the workforce as a whole leans more towards older. What industry do you think this is?

30 here. As usual letting go of the enployees who actually know what they are doing. Meanwhile the remaining people who after years still cant do basic things remain.
I noticed that when I got laid off in July 2017.
I doubt age came into it, but tenure & salary likely did. Maybe that's why you've noticed it?
I was let go and am in mid 30s.
