Venting is fine. However, staying here in the hope that EM will start recognizing employees for their hard work (at least as it used to be), I think is a waste of time. The golden times will not return. This is the bitter truth, and the sooner everyone accepts it, the better.

You too? My hand written thank you note was written by the manager who delivered the massage that I sucked at my job months before. The same year I made millions for the company plus received an industry recognition.
Everyone wants recognition for a job I did well.
@OP You get recognition. It’s called a paycheck.
The employer/employee relationship is purely transactional, as it should be. Pay me what I’m worth, and I’ll do what you pay me to do. I don’t need “atta-boys”.
Boomers, please, spare me the lectures about culture/purpose/whatever at work. You shouldn’t be lecturing anybody about anything TBH.
Who thinks that DW is an incompetent sociopath?
My group started just giving recognition letters with no awards. They don’t even announce the recognition letters. You just get a letter. No hand shakes. No thanks at the various meetings. Just a letter.
Not sure what they want me to do with those…
@bvj+1iOkYpts Indeed, I did! And the Thank You Note was hand written by the very same manager that tried to PIP me the previous assessment cycle. Gaslighting at its finest. You can’t make this stuff up! This place is especially unique.
We received a small bottle of hand sanitizer and a mask in Annandale……place is a joke,
@qcz+1iOkYpts You got a $100 gift card!?
I do 2 or 3 hours of work per day but they pay me for 8. That's the recognition I'm happy to accept now! #winning
@suw+1iOkYpts I totally get your point, especially the insincere and manipulative part. At this point in my long job life (no such thing as a career at EM) it’s all about the money. Sincere appreciation and respect is shown with action - actual pay raises - not meaningless pats on the back. The executives get plenty of both. Lest I remind everyone that DW received a 51% pay raise, $3M cash bonus and lots of RSUs last year (per SEC filings). The corporation is reaping historic profits. How does it feel to be acknowledged for your contributions with a Thank You Note stuffed with a $100 Visa card?
It’s not just about the monetary reward or praise. It’s about sincere appreciation, acknowledgement, and respect.
It’s a farce when the most capable and the people who did the excellent work are not recognized and promoted.
The attempts now to fix this come too little too late. To me, it comes across as insincere and manipulative.
Exactly
Like a post a week or so ago where an employee was complaining the company hasnt rewarded him with a gift card lately. What a joke.
