Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

You really have to be a hyphen-american to survive in the corporate world

GM fears lawsuits and that's the only thing they fear. The people with the greatest ability to sue GM upon being laid off are the hypen-americans who see themselves as marginalized and devalued by the nation as a whole. It's best to start thinking of a different last name and pulling an Elizabeth Warren by saying you have 0.0001% native american blood therefore you're a hypen-american in order to better protect yourself.

1acb - it's sad but true , just a bit of a rewind , remember when Bush said Mexicans are doing jobs Americans don't want to do ? At this point I'd rather be picking fruit and working on a farm that being in the auto industry. Considering I am a foodie I Thai , Mexican and Italian all the way. All this drama after awhile is such a waste of energy , I sincerely don't think we are supposed to live this way as humans , maybe it will change in the future .

Are we not professionals ? Look each of us knows the truth. Layoffs of this magnitude are color blind and that includes gender. I have had the pleasure of working with the best people from all over the world , fine people with great and different prospective on life and experience , in fact I looked forward to that interaction daily. I am white and male , so what! I can see and understand what everyone is talking about ,but I guess I'm a bit color blind because I actually care for people and culture a great deal. I'm a gen x too whatever that really means , I hate reference Star trek BUT ! Ex) on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 60s it was full of many cultures sharing a common goal , as a kid watching these cheese re-runs I wasn't thinking hey ! How come they aren't all white? I just saw people doing a killer job in space , I should have worked for NASA , I degress , My point is we need to work with each other , Yes all of us know and can clearly see the old school mantalities and whatever other games are going on , the question is what can we do to change this? We are the best in the world , engineering , design , IT all of it ! We have spirit , we have our minds to create and the tools to do magnificent things, let's do that instead. I unfortunately don't have a bachelor degree , I'm just a tech - was a tech at GM , I'm late to school for a variety of reasons , currently working on my associates. If I could rewind the clock , I wouldn't . Sure I wish I would have went straight out of high school , but I didn't , it's definitely hindering to me , but I am trying to change that now. I'm humbled to have worked and learned from really good people from all walks of life. We have a job to do as one team I have always felt. Any Hendrix fans ? My parent we're hippies maybe that's why Iam a free spirit , born in 1976.

Well simple math skills and and a look at workforce population aggregate would indicate that most likely to be the case!

You’re going to see a lot of people with skills, ideas, character, and personality walked out next week. Mostly white males under 50.

What she may have left out is particularly if you have nothing of value to add to the companies success, i.e., skills, ideas, character, personality, etc,,,,!!!

During bankruptcy, my sister in law, who works in Human Resources at another company said “You’re a white male under 40. You’re screwed.”

It’s so true it hurts.

I’ve considered joining affinity groups I’m not even actually part of in hopes that my name might go on a “do-not-fire” list.

A wise Great American (non hypen-ed) once said "Better to be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." Something to Ponder over the weekend!
