So many negative posts this year already compared to previous years. It is kind of scary ! Why are things so bad at 3M ?
Doesn't bode well for the future.

It’s true that Adv 3M operating model has made it worse off. Previously organized by country MD they could react to market faster. But now organized by business group. They are just putting up regional headcount to collate data and report upwards. Just need Excel and Powerpoint skills.
True , a whole list of job titles being upgraded a level to raise morale, it is a sad state of affairs, closing Japanese and Chinese technical staff which is worrying as that knowledge is going to raise other company profiles and R&D. Think the company should now look at raising the salaries of the production employee, hearing from other managers that cutting back and asking superhuman efforts from them is pushing a lot over the edge, but sure as long as our green tickboxes are filled we aren't mean't to care but most of us do
I don’t think people care about a title if nothing changes in the job- if so, they must be the shallow, redundant few in leadership positions. Eventually the sheen of the new title wears off, and once again you realize we’re working for a sinking ship. Time to find the lifeboats and jump ship! Everyone on my team is looking outside.
Morale is in the dumpster because of a few things. First 2020 stress is real, and definitely part of it. Second, 3Mers have gone through three terribly-managed and badly-communicated layoffs in three years, that helps nobody feel good. Lastly, and I think most importantly, the Advance 3M remodel has simultaneously made decision making slower and less collaborative. All of this coming along with a clear message from executives of "The beatings continue until morale improves".
A lot of 3Mers have had it, and are running for the exits. Right now it is at least as bad as the McNerney era, and from my view even more destructive.
Heard HR going to give a free upgrade to the job titles of the senior leaders. Meaning,
Senior mgr will be re-titled as Director
Director will become VP etc..
Maybe that can help to boost the morale
