S-xual Harassment

Did anyone have a s-xual harassment issue at Staples? I did and went to HR anonymously. They figured it out anyway and I was let go in a mass lay off last year. I know of others.

My S-xual Harassment case against Staples is not a secret in my town, Bozeman, MT, the Staples next to Target. The manager who presided over the store is still there. I took my complaint to the State of Montana myself, Staples brought a lawyer. Montana decided my complaint was real but not egregious enough to punish them. I was fired within days after I called Staples human resources department to report the s-xual harassment, then I contacted the state. I wonder how many more women have been a victim of this Manager in Bozeman Staples since February 2008?

I think everyone should post away. If it happened there is no need to be silent. That is how so many were affected in the first place. Obviously no specifics, but encouraging those who were assaulted to come forward is all that is needed. Everyone knows the usual suspects and places where it occurred anyway. We all saw it, but no one did anything.

After meeting with counsel I found out it is to my advantage that the company kept FM. It shows culpability. The company had knowledge and failed to act. This will help my case and anyone else who was subjected to unwanted advances and pressure. I have the complaint number where I called in. It will be even more helpful if SG knew as well, but knowing HR they kept this information. I may retire off of Staples after all.

This kind off stuff is never addressed because the fear of losing a job. I had an FS director in Michigan complain that his wife would not allow him anal s-x. I am not kidding..... I said nothing in fear of my job. The scumbag still has that position.

Silence has given power to those who should be fired. It is time. I have contacted a lawyer. I am not the only one. I have spoken with another and she is going to meet with a lawyer, too. Staples cannot get away with leaving someone at a C level who is a predator.

Everyone, realize that HR never has you in their best interest. They are only there to serve the interests of the company and its agenda and after that, they’ll probably be let go too. If you want to talk about s-xual harassment, look no further than your income and benefits corresponded to your labor when compared to the marketer value/average in your area for your position at other companies. When you realize this discrepancy, you will understand the sheer feeling of vulnerability. Stop lying to yourselves. They keep telling everyone “business as usual” and then lay off scores of talented people for cheaper, offshored resources from questionable conglomerates. If you think they care about you, you’re mistaken. The SLT and it’s new ownership will get rid of you and gut your department like a fish if it means saving expenses toward the bottom line just so they prove that model out and collect a nice bonus check after the fact. They don’t care about the long term or innovation that’s 5-10 years from now, all they care about is ROI. If you’re not looking elsewhere by now, you probably think corporate America still has a soul and to that I say look no further than their decision to go forward with an offshored company that’s under criminal investigation for syphoning 45% of American healthcare records from a previous partnership/integration with another company. This just goes to show the true decision making ability and thoughtfulness of the people at the top. It’s not a coincidence that Office Depot acquired an IT Services company for $1 billion soon after Staples announced layoffs in their IT/Operations departments. Follow the money, not the media.

In light of all the recent attention with harassment and Hollywood, I wonder if SG and Staples would take this more seriously now? I wonder how many will come forward. I know many of the "me too's" on social media were colleagues from Staples. So the question is was their time at Staples when they were harassed? It's a shame a woman is at the top and she isn't helping anyone but herself.

Here is Staples HR logic: if you have a problem, you are the problem, so dont have any problems. all HR groups think like this - this is not a staples problem, this is bigger - so go figure what you need to do

I don't believe in open door policy. That is a sure way that you are next on the chopping block.

You are correct. FM was the one. And I was the one punished.

I can think of at least two people who were fired for s-xually harassing people over the last couple of years. Action was swift.

Folks please wake up! HR is not there to protect employees. They EXIST to PROTECT the COMPANY from lawsuits. If you are dealing with HR for any reason it's because THEY have an agenda and either YOU or someone else they are trying to screw, is a target of their desire to PROTECT the COMPANY from lawsuits..... Hey a shout out to FAT beer guzzling C.R. of HR ( if he is even still there) ... he was a real piece of work but easily defeated because he is not all that bright... heheheh.

I did not - however, for whatever reason I doubt HR, always. I am not saying what you need or should do, I am just sharing my personal caution here.
