I love hearing the Model e guys bragging.

Remember Team Edison? Weren't THEY the start up approach? Weren't they the 'act small, think big, go fast' start up approach?

How long did they exist? A little over a year. Then it folded into the giant, red tap, slow moving FoMoCo and renamed itself Model e...

Nothing about Model e is 'start up'.

I wouldn't even hate on Model e if you just said they're an organization with deliverables bla bla. But to act like it's something unique - it's not. Its huge and slow moving with a lot of churn and redundancy. All the political maneuvering and red tape that start ups avoid.

Good luck, man.... Everyone in Model e needs it just as much as Ford Blue.

It's a good thing I don't have to worry about a long career or retirement income. I can just put all my 401k into this startup. It will be like Tesla 10 years ago. We even are copying Tesla's 10 year old designs! Any day now investors will catch on to the brilliant transformation strategy as presented repeatedly in Townhalls and the stock will soar.

One reason the term start-up fits Model e is that it isn't just a BEV manufacturer. It is statement of fact that Model has a focus on the connected data and software aspects of mobility to make the bulk of its revenue via subscription model.

The early success of BlueCruise has already previewed this.

The Ford Ranger EV (Electric Vehicle) is a battery powered compact pickup truck that was produced by the Ford motor company and was Ford's first all-electric production vehicle. It was produced starting in the 1998 model year through 2002.

Ford Motor Company is a complete disaster. The fact that Jim Farley says Model E is like a startup is complete lunacy. Ford has been making electric vehicles since 2009...

"Ford started making EVs back in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. The company's very first car was the Ford Focus BEV, a fully-electric hatchback with 76 miles (122km) of range."

Electric vehicles are not rocket science. All the technology that they are trying to jam them with is half of the issues. The fact that most of the experts were terminated, quit or retired last year doesn't help quality.

Ford Motor Company had no mentorship program in place for those that retire. I gave 4 months notice that I was going to retire (about 18 months ago) and it fell on deaf ears. It took the plant over 6 months to get a replacement that can't even do the job. Quality and productivity suffered miserably.

I know... Anyone can be replaced. Especially with a good mentoring program. But some of us are more difficult to replace.

So glad I left the train wreck company Ford has become.

@1men+1lNcvB6k. And if you actually worked for Ford, you would know that Ford corporate leadership's projections tend to be way off the mark.

It might've been explained, but it's yet to be believed. The slash-and-burn approach is going to bite use in the rear... Hard.

@1men+1lNcvB6k

If u replace 'model e' with 'FOE' or 'Ford China' and 'BEV' with 'global', u should be able to sense the same story was told before. Did u copy your post from the past articles?

Model e is the start-up that is referenced here. If any of you actually are Ford employees, you would know that Model e success is the #1 goal for Ford corporate leadership. Also if you actually worked for Ford, you would be well aware how Model e is strategically placing itself in the BEV and services market to reach the goal. It's already been explained many times over.

@ivn that $ you speak of will dry up after the next election. That is not Ford money, Ford is levered to the gills in a rising interest rate environment. Ford will cry too big to fail but that will not prevail as they have shipped all the jobs to Mexico and India.

They tried 1bnw and were told to go pound sand by Tesla.
They also tried to acquire Rivian and Rivian said Nope, the most they would allow was a % stake.
It was interesting how shocked Ford was at the time that these companies did not kiss Fords feet and thank the all mighty Ford for deigning to purchase them.
Ever since Ford has been trying to throw their weight around and impede Tesla’s success. Didn’t work though did it?
Poor character and poor form.

The fix is in!! gm Ford etc etc know it. ICE vehicles will be regulated and taxed out of existence by their handlers. How else to explain this madness?

Why didn’t they just buy Tesla in 2005 and either grow it or wind it down. I would have just bought rivian, polestar, lucid, etc and rebranded it Edsel…then If the division lived and was profitable ..continue…if not close it down…you get rid of money losing venture and possible future rival. Continue with your business of building cars and trucks people want to buy and can afford…case closed.

There's never been a better time to be a startup that right after the largest startup bank in the world went bust when reality hit and we found out it's just a big fraudulent money laundering operation that sends taxpayer money to woke hedge fund gamblers.

Bravo DF and Ford!!

The startups Ford bought "ALL FAILED", 100%.

All these greatest ideas are nothing other than controlling management's agenda. When management changes, the associated also go. The only question left is always when, not if.

Come on @cep+1lNcvB6k If leadership knew what the current problems are and how to fix them why have they not done so in the past 9 years? I say 9 as Mullaly left in 2014 and he was the last leader with his head screwed on straight and had the common sense, skills and background to fix this stuff.
Everyone since has no clue so they claim they need to start from scratch with new employees and new processes. Everyone can see thru the BS.
Let’s get real the talking heads only care about their own paycheck and career.

Meanwhile Toyota which has solid leadership and focus on quality continues to chug away. All Ford is good at is empty promises and Farley being a blowhard. He can't seem to talk less and do more.

What is wrong with saying that? Operating Model e as a start-up is how we can shed all the old processes and issues that put Ford in its current uncompetitive situation.

Model e is going in the right direction.
