Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

How are you coping, guys?

Beside the fact that we have layoffs in phases, which definitely triggered growing tension and anxiety, they are also being conducted in disorderly fashion. Just when you hear that one phase is over, and you have a sigh of relief thinking you are safe until the next phase, you hear of batches of people being laid off here and there. So basically every day can be the day until layoffs are over and done with. I think it’s all too much.

"This person that is talking about their POV of managers being co--y or engaging subordinates for trivial stuff. Either you have never been laid off or caught up in your overwhelmed world. You may need more maturity and hopefully aging will help you get there.

Some managers take this as a learning opportunity to understand how to strategize before and after such a painful event. It is not fun for them either. But they have enough maturity to understand they have to deal with such cr-ppy situations no matter the company. Generally these hard learning moments are necessary to tackle and learn from if you ever hope to move up in your career.

Having said that, you seem to have a very poor attitude towards your managers ability- managerial or technically. Did you ask yourself such questions when they promoted you over your tenure?. If yes, I feel for your manager and hope they realize the mistake."

It is just a job. Career is not your entire life.

I just want to cry. I wish i could do the bare minimum but no one seems to have thought through the workloads and solutions when they massacred nickelodeon.

Going tough ! Just being less than 2 years here can’t expect much severance . Being in Visa clocks run to find something in next 60 days or need to travel back in mid of school year stopping kids academics , sports commitment and thought of Apt lease breaking fee making it so nervous n unable to concentrate on anything.

Some managers acting co--y like they won't be affected and continuing things BAU. Even have the audacity to be calling out subordinates for trivial stuff. I hope they're the first ones to be let go. It's like they're intent on making the last two weeks for many as miserable as possible. ANd said managers have zero managerial skills and su-k technically.

Longest two weeks of my life. Can’t wait to not think about this place, not cry during the day, not wonder what fresh he-l awaits me every morning. Unfortunate that my first 10 years here were great, this last year has been the absolute worst for my mental and physical health. Hang in there, all.

Everybody is on wait and see mode, coasting until 9/24. Not much will get done until we have certainty who will be around to continue the work, if there are any left.

I'm hoping to be let go so that I can get on with my life and perhaps work in a different field where I'm not repeatedly kicked in the ribs like an abused dog and subjected to a workload not originally in my job description for the same wonderful pay. I'm also tired of being hit with propaganda and pointless company emails advertising useless classes for self-improvement when the fluff material offered, couldn't possibly help me anywhere else in the American workforce. No line of work is perfect, but I'd rather take my chances elsewhere at this point. Enough with the waiting games!

If the company wants to jerk us around that's fine, I'm doing the bare minimum at this point. No reason to push myself to get projects done if they company cares so little about its employees

Sometimes there's really no way to cope but to just accept the uncertainty and shittiness of the times unfortunately. I kind of hope I'm one of the chosen ones so I can leave this insane asylum. 9/24 can't get here soon enough.
