I received an offer, and while it’s not perfect, it would get me out of this place, which is my main goal right now. That said, if there’s a chance I’ll be laid off in the next few weeks or even months, I might hold off a bit longer and keep searching for something better.

Just take the offer!
Has anyone seen org charts on the new structure? Are they merging fritoand Pepsi? I saw where some billing/invoice payments are being centralized which would eliminate the need for some location admins. Would they eliminate the GMAS role?
Maybe the good people of Mexico and India will purchase the products since that’s where all the jobs are going?
Our manager is heading to MX week of Feb 10. Likely to be informed her Chicago team is toast. Meantime, we are now invested in painstakingly mapping our jobs for the people in presumably MX to perform it at 1/3 the coat. This company is beyond reproach. The mood here is akin to a funeral match. People walk around with a blank stare. You happy Ramon, Steve, Athena and the rest of you poor excuses for leadership? Quaker, my colleagues tell me, was once a respectable productive and secure person place to build a career. This toxic sewer of a company destroyed any semblance of those long gone days. All the org health, pep talks, DEI garbage will do zero to save this pathetic organization. I turn 65 this year. So glad this nightmare is nearly over.
Yes, there will be layoffs. Senior leaders were asked last year for "nominees" on who would be laid off. I submitted one name from my team.
Yes. And confirmed that roles (strategic roles and transactional roles) are moving to Mexico and redundant roles are being eliminated in the near term. Current plan in forecast includes a next wave in February and March timeframes.
OP - I like the way you think. I did the same. I had an outside offer, but I was aware that VRPs were on the horizon. I held off on the outside offer and took the VRP. Once I had my separation date I reached out to the new company and aligned with them that my start date was after my Pep separation date. Timing was a major factor, and it was risky AF, so I consider myself very fortunate that it worked out for me. Good luck!
Hearing the week of February 10th as well. I'm guessing we'll get the email to stay home that week.
Do we know anything about payroll? They have encouraged me to apply within Level 2-5 roles, but there are none out there. I have told this to my bass, we know they will get rid of some of us-they told us that last October Super frustrating not knowing when they are letting us go.
To the OP -
I would strongly consider taking the offer that you have in hand for a couple of reasons:
- Paradoxically, it is far easier to get a new job when you have a job. For whatever reason recruiters tend to look negatively upon applicants that are currently out of work. Most people want to thread the needle and double dip with severance and salary from their new company. That said, this is far more difficult to pull off than most believe.
- There is no guarantee that you will be affected by the layoffs and that if you wait it out you will remain in a company that has gone past the tipping point with respect to toxic culture and negative performance.
- No job is perfect. There is a reason we call this "work" and not pursuing your true interests and passions. Don't get emotionally connected to companies that don't love you back. Who knows an unperfect technical job fit but a perfect cultural fit may be the perfect match you need at this point in your career to reset and ultimately get to where you want to be.
Best of luck in whatever you decide. As many have said in their posts, there IS life after Pepsico.
