I have heard from reliable sources that there are plans to offer early retirement packages similar to what happened in 2011. If you've worked 10+ years and you're over 45yrs, you qualify to join. Cisco is trying to push out the high earners to cut costs. They can hire Gr6-8 to replace Gr11-13.
What you think of this idea? Man, I would jump at this. I have 15yrs at Cisco and I can easily find another gig at any major tech firm here in SV. Please snoop/ask around to confirm this.
Agreed. This ain't happening. No fact to support the belief but popular opinion was that MANY more took the offer than expected.
For the record, not everyone that was mathematically eligible for the ER package was offered in 2011. Not sure if it was because the company couldn't do without these people or they were so sh*tty nobody was going to pay to have them leave.

This back fired terribly last time. The majority of people who jumped at this opportunity were high performers who had lots of opportunities to pursue. Reductions are going to be portfolio/ investment decision driven not by taking hands as to who wants to leave the most!

BUT....never gonna happen. There will be the usual amount of LRs you would expert from a company this size but the days of early retirement are over.
I seriously doubt this......there would be a huge backlash from the large numbers of over 45 people who got LR'd last year, and years before, who would have qualified.
I pray this is the case.
Can I request my mgr to put me on that ER list before it gets full. I don't wanna miss out this time, I been here 12.5 years. Or will he just put more pressure on me to leave on my own (not even LR)?
