The safety culture issues rightfully recognized by the FAA/NTSB is a symptom rather than a cause of the "Them vs Us" culture which evolved from the MacDonald-Douglas-Boeing merger of 1998. When the once quality and value focused culture was replaced by the business and profit first culture. This and the evolution of the subsequent leadership style are both fruits of the poisonous tree. Because of this, the current culture will not change with platitudes. Both technical and professional staffs are treated as the lower of a 2 cast system. Management vs Other. This is apparent in the company's management highly controlled and highly subjective performance evaluations system which in turn controls the often overlooked promotions and fair compensation of most valuable employees. Hence the topic of the ongoing strike. Overdue fair compensation. Institutional retaliation is a well refined tool hiding in plain site. If one speaks to an issue, they are quietly labeled as "non conforming" ending career progression. See something, say something is often smirked at by the majority who value their paycheck.
