RE: india started getting notified last friday.

Wasn't there recently a huge new technology center (or something along those lines) built in India? The company didn't pour millions into a new facility only to close it down and cut the staff, right?

Well the current top hocho in charge of TEBG was sent to India to set up the India lab and build a R&D center going back a decade and a half ago. Thought was that 3M needs to grow all over the world and doing R&D in Maplewood and a few other places won't cut it anymore.

He did just that and being one of Inge 's close circle rose to the top fairly fast ! When the same person was the CTO of the company few years later after doing a 4,5 year stint in India, he shut down the R&D center in India, saying it was too small to be impactful.

Soon after this decision, he got promoted again !

Here is the interesting thing about being a upper management guy in 3M. You can get promoted for anything you do, provided you know the right people.

Start a new organization...promotion, can it after a few short years ....promotion, change the name of a division... promotion, merge 2 divisions ....promotion.

Now has any of our current executives ever grown a business organically to get promoted.....come on...don't ask me the taboo questions...we all know the answers !

Many of the APAC colleagues were shell shocked to get the severance. Some departments were even wiped off totally! Gone with a stroke.

Why is charles.avery getting his big promotions while laying off so many people who has helped to contribute to the N95 ramp up? He still have the audacity to have led the company through the pandemic during the TEBG townhall. What an ungrateful leader

Very sad week for my APAC colleagues. Many have worked more than 15 years. Some were even contributing hard during the pandemic teams to supply the extra N95 respirators, so that Roman can boast that he has led the company to save the world. What a t.w.a.t

What has been the apac impact so far ? Can some folks from apac share more about their teams? I hear korea, japan and anz is delayed due to labour laws. But sea region and india is in the firing line.

Which of the APAC BGs was more impacted? Is it mainly LSSCI or LVS /MTE people?

Surprisingly, managers retained and individual contributors impacted. Its like the super boss got to choose their favorites , capabilities and contribution be damned.

Sad day for the LSS Black belts. Once a darling high potential role, now becomes a pool for layoff.

Saw the APAC EO had trim off 2 layers by getting rid of a VP and POL layer. Seems like the previous A3M organization is indeed so much FAT!

Sg needs a severe cut. All bdm type roles should be immediately eliminated. Just a back door to import ppl from india. Total waste of money.

I think some cuts have begun with CBG and Digital Operations. But major cuts are expected by mid next week.
Today felt like the calm before the storm. Everyone is waiting to see if they have a job and also what would the new R&R look like.
