I went up to work at XTO in Dallas for a few years. They had a better culture, fewer processes, and a great attitude towards getting the work done.
Now, that they are basically gone and most of their management “disassembled” I’m sad we couldn’t of adopted some of the good things they had going for them.
I’ve come to the the conclusion Rex did Bob a favor. No more no less .
Nobody wanted to be like XTO. All these “nice things” were the BS of a double failure (as CEO and Secretary of State) to justify his wasteful spending.
XOM will never “adopt the good things XTO had going for them” simply because operating successfully (not buying, showing inflated reserves, then selling) requires retaining experience above a foreman / asst SUPT level in the basin which the experience resides. XOM only values those than will climb the ladder with a “career move” every couple of years while force ranking (field exp CAF) to the bottom. It’s not a business model that is successful in the buy and operate the asset for more than 10 yrs unconventional sphere.
Well, if you were Dallas you didn’t work at XTO. It was in Fort Worth.
The EM order was to a annihilate what XTO represent, even if the people like to be like XTO or copy any of the procedures from XTO. It needs to be eliminated. (2017)
