Thread regarding Pembina Pipeline Corp layoffs

What is Pembina Doing?

Pembina continues to let go valued employees. Do they not realize some of these employees could be deployed elsewhere? I know of recent cuts where the people who were let go could be valuable resources elsewhere. Pembina has spent a great deal of money training these employees and yet instead of repositioning them they choose to let them go. Is that really being resource responsible? We all know it costs companies hundreds of thousands of dollars at times to develop intelligent people that are able to make responsible and proper decisions yet recently it seems like Pembina is willing to let years of experience go down the drain just because some leaders egos feel hurt because they aren't considered the smartest people in the room. The smartest people don't have to be at the top of the pyramid but those people need to understand that their team is built of smart people who can help them make the best decision possible. Pembina leadership especially the Officer group seems to miss out on this concept, why I'm not sure but it certainly seems to be a buddy system at the top. I truly hope SB realizes that his direct leadership group is not telling him the truth about what is happening at Pembina. Pembina stock should be going through the roof but yet we still seem to be stalemated. Mick would not have put up with this he would have made changes for the right reasons and the company would have progressed forward. Do I think Pembina is a good company, Yes I do but they have a lot of work to do to get back to being a leader in the midstream section. Keyera is pushing hard as are other companies. What is there that separates Pembina from others? In years gone by Pembina was a premier shop to work at but now with the soft leadership in place it truly isn't the place to work at. Takes 3 years to vest into the LTIP before you really see payback. Is it worth it? Can you last that long? Very similar to other companies, so what makes them better? From my perspective nothing. Go where you can get the best for what suits you. The companies are no longer looking out for you or interested in your long term. There is no golden watch any longer, companies don not have your best interest in mind, it all comes down to the bottom line and if you fit their model.
Wish you all the best and enjoy the fun times to come.

This isn't a recent trend at Pembina it has always been more of a who's friends with who culture than who is delivering top talent. From the masses of manager/senior managers who will only work on things that get them time with VPs to leaders who couldn't find field locations on a map let alone get out of Calgary and visit. Far too many missed opportunities and late-to-the-game announcements it's a wonder this company still exists. I mean I guess that's what happens when you hire half of PWC to run internal departments. But that's probably just my internal dialogue :-P

With a few exceptions, most people that have been let go in the last year had the courage to speak up about something not working or were not part of the in crowd.

Mick was a horrible people leader and Pembina continues to suffer under some of the leaders he put in place. JS and his VP/Director clique represent the worst of the worst and it will take a massive cull to cut out all of that cancer.

Ya no sh-t. How long has it taken you to figure this out, you sound like a mid-late career individual?
Younger generation already looks after themselves, you can see it pretty clearly.
