Good people are moving on to new jobs or retirement on a regular basis. Perhaps that will temper layoffs since they’re being chalked up as reduced headcount. Perhaps not…

I know 3 people from my plant that were let go were on PIP’s.

@7gq I'm still waiting to see the better skills part. All I see is some under paid person reading from a script. You must be from their team. Any ape can read from a script.

CPC will have no problem finding people to do projects whenever and wherever they need them in the future. The past is gone. Now there is plenty of talent worldwide of equal or better skills willing to do it for much less. That fact makes most of us overpaid apes who just happened to catch the tail end of a lucky streak.

@7gd Not true. They will just outsource it like they are doing with everything else. I just wouldn't expect the quality to be there. Just look how well IT turned out!

I can't believe some of the people they let go instead of others. Shame on you CPC.

CPChem will never be able to people source a project after this. We Went to the project group and spent 2 years in other countries and states away from family and friends. We have spent another 2 years in construction, working well beyond our required hours, way beyond. And now we are being cut, demoted, etc. I wish I could take back every Friday, Saturday and Sunday that I worked.

@7fw The cuts have been happening at the plant level. They cut the people who do actual work.

I can't believe the cuts started affecting people at the plant level! I really feel bad for people affected that have been with CPC for a short time.

How much is the severance package? 2 week pay per every 1 year of employment?

Project group has been hit, same day as HQ and sites were done. Retirement with severance package.

@47p 4th qtr for layoffs. There is a wage and promotion freeze.

Too many engineers in the company. Whoever was over grad student program didn’t properly manage how many were needed per year to maintain what was needed. Kept hiring the same amount each year and now there are too many. Also projects are coming to an end and what do we do with those. All the redundancy in all the plants will be trimmed.

It's not rumors. Why do you think they are going after AI so agressively? Why do you think they aren't back filling jobs? If you want to know, go straight to the top and ask them.
