Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

It's over

Just stop posting here. AIG is garbage. Has been for a long time and isn't getting better. That's really all you need to say.

This web site censors many posts. It is probably in the pocket of AIG.

If you stay at AIG, then shut up and take what they give you and be happy. Otherwise leave. it is pretty simple at this point.

Post ID: @1eyi+19r3Bi0T— that’s exactly what I did. I got rif’d 3 years ago and 2 years before I got rif’d I did just enough to get my full STI. I took care of my customers, came in early, left very early, took very long lunches, just was not motivated because my boss was an evil witch. I started two side businesses while at work. Told her lay me off, I could care less. They hold it over your hold like a guillotine, but I was tired of being scared, so F them. Best thing to happen to me because I got all my pay, 100% STI, my full severance and fully vested in LTI. AIG still paying me until 2023. AIG will never recover just let it sink into the abyss.

you know, its really not that hard. just invest in staff that is not executives. that's really all you need to do aig. you have field staff that are begging for help, help backfilling positions, help with cost of living wages, help with a modest sti compared to yours. help making ends meet.

field staff are told work harder for less, but execs need an assistant for every assistant to literally make decisions, not handle customers, just make decisions. if an executive can't make a decision without an assistant, then get rid of the executive don't hire another layer of management.

invest in someone other than your friends if you want to succeed. if you just want to milk the company for a few years and move on then keep doing what you are doing. its working great.

AIG continually sends emails advising us to step away from our computer, separate work/home life, volunteer, join a virtual group and attend virtual meetings everyday to learn about inclusion and diversity, read a book and join yammer to talk about how cute your cat looked today while playing with its toy.

Then, your co-worker resigns and your boss says you have to take their workload because the position isn't being replaced. But I already took the workload from the prior employee that left? Oh well, if you don't like it leave and if you don't do the work of 3 people then we take your sti.

But, what about my well being? Oh, that's right, its all a b/s HR campaign, now I get it!

to the prior post:

i am a low level manager too, i know his pay grade, not his specific salary. its not hard to back into a range given pay grade and years of service.

when the execs come knocking to cut costs, the weak are sacrificed to preserve what pz likes to call "top talent". problem is top talent doesn't do the work and field staff have been neglected and downsized to the point of starvation so they leave and don't get replaced.

being a low level manager is difficult because you hear the ridiculous cheerleading from execs about how great aig is doing, but it never trickles down to the worker bees. aig hires a new exec every week, but i cant even give staff a decent cost of living raise and promos are very rare.

most good employees leave and you are left with employees that don't want to be here, but have no ambition to better themselves so they just exist. then, execs say we have to do more with less.

okay? let me try to motivate employees who are only here because they have no ambition or because they haven't found another job yet. that makes a lot of sense! but you keep hiring your "top talent" pz and see where that gets you.

@4zsn+19r3Bi0T How do you know how much your manager makes? If you think just because they are a manager, they make some huge paycheck, you’re mistaken. Yes, I’m a manager, and yes, I know how much my staff make. Many make more than I do. Not complaining as they have specific skills and are paid appropriately.

I have personally witnessed management sacrificing lower pay staff to save their own position. I watched my current manager do it and he is still getting away with a huge paycheck every week for doing very little work. Therefore, I have decided to do very little work as well. It's the circle of life at aig.

Wouldn't say if they didn't deserve it but SH played a major part in folks under 24 tier for IT getting laid off to watch his own a–. Good luck to anyone remaining.

PZs conscience is spot on. I would also add that they think how many people to get rid of to get a new Corp jet....

Or how many employees do we need to get rid of to bring more Accenture people in.....

Or maybe someone on the leadership teams needs a new yacht or maybe a home in Hamptons or Florida....

The new Pete is probably worse than the old Pete....

regarding the prior post.......you may be correct, but i often see other insurance companies advertising on this site. logically thinking, if you pay for advertising you may get some say in what message is delivered.

i agree aig doesn't care about anyone's opinion below exec level and we all no our aig opinions at work are not relevant to leadership no matter how many surveys they send, but this site is sometimes questionable with the stuff they take down.

"This web site censors many posts. It is probably in the pocket of AIG."

And here we are having a nice discussion and from what I can see nothing is getting delete. Can you guess why? No politics, no racism, no spamming, no whatever it is that's not allowed in the rules you can read in the footer. You follow the rules and your posts stay up - it's that simple. I know you'd prefer to think there's a big conspiracy here and AIG actually gives a damn about us and what we say on an anonymous website, but I'm sorry that that's not the case and it's much more boring than that.

you are employee #1234567, you make $70k plus sti and benefits. your total package is around $100k. how many of you do i need to get rid of to hire "top tier" executive talent from my prior company?

this is the only math that the "number's guy" cares about. that is why aig hasn't and won't be able to turn the corner. smart companies know that you take care of the field staff first, they sell your product. not aig though, with aig the top dog always eats first even if that means the worker bee starves.

Compare the AIG results to the following from Chubb and you see how a profitable insurance company operates even during a pandemic. No excuses here:

Chubb Q4 results:

The full year published P&C combined ratio is 96.1%, compared to 90.6% in '19. The full year P&C current accident year combined ratio excluding cats was 86.7% compared to 89.2%, which speaks to our underlying health. And our full year premium revenue growth is about 5.5% in constant dollar with commercial lines growth of 9.3%.

As you sit back today and listen to BD and PZ pat themselves on the back for their great performance and your extraordinary efforts just realize this is fodder for them to justify their bloated salaries and bonuses. It is really all non-sense.

Here are the key items to reflect upon in 2020: AIG lost $6 Billion dollars, Q4 income is down 10%, net written premium fell another 5%, the combined ration is 102.3. Also, AIG declines to provide guidance going into 2021.

This is what 5 years and at least $250 million dollars in BD salary has delivered. Continuing to report an adjusted ratio by removing Catastrophe losses is ludicrous in today's world.

Wait until the internal control issues start popping out in public. Management was told by their own minions this is a problem, and for their trouble they were riffed.
Would not be surprised to see a whistle-blower lawsuit at some point.
And yes, they sc-ape the site regularly for posts they don't like.
Wonder how long Brian will be propped up. L&R makes money but Commercial is a loser.

That's good stuff, nice retort! You may be correct to some extent.

To be honest, I'm still collecting a nice payday from AIG, but I have no delusions of grandeur anymore. It is a sinking ship that I intend to ride to the depths of the abyss. Why, because I am old and lazy. That's the truth. I'm tired of complaining about AIG. I'm just riding the wave baby. Don't care about goals, ambitions or career advancement, just going payday to payday and growing the 401k. Starting a side gig and waiting for a RIF. I could sleep half the day and do enough not to get performanced out by the incompetent HR department.

Bottom line, we are 4 years deep with this exec group, Q4 combined ratio is 102.8, still can't make a profit. Stock down big after hours. Execs will give themselves huge sti bonuses for k–ling the company while we are told to work harder with less. I don't think so PZ.

Keep the easy money rolling to me and I'm not complaining anymore. Not trying to change the world. I know there is no real career, no real future and no passion left, but that's okay for now. If you stay, bend over and take it like a real man or woman and shut up because almost nothing has changed in 4 years except the woke propaganda. The company is still a t–d and always will be. But you go fight the good fight pal, it will pay off if you are friends with upper management! lol....good luck, you'll need it!

If it's so garbage why are you still checking this website. Your a bigger loser than the people staying at AIG cause they have space in your head.

Or you can stay in a useless claims group and lay low “e-working”/binging/swiping and then use the rest of the time to look for work and polish up the LinkedIn profile.
