Thread regarding FactSet Research Systems Inc. layoffs

Layoffs Have Begun

Seems like layoffs have officially started as of Feb 12th. Folks are being informed and asked to sign-off immediately. Not sure if it's done via email, face-to-face, or both, but we are officially in the thick of it.

Good luck to everyone :/.

They kept saying “we need to move past this” and that “everyone who was let go was done with the utmost dignity and respect”

Updated theme: Racing Cars - please stop. Get a life jacket for your sinking boat. I rather have my snacks back than some of these sales people.

They are saying around 2% lay off but target is probably 4-5%. We will see more coming in June/July similar to last year.

They are letting strategy, engineer & consultants go. They did Norwalk now but next is high cost locations such as New York, Boston and Chicago for consulting.

It is unfortunate other functions are hurting but of course nothing with sales. They cut travel budget for everyone except sales. Last May, they let 3% go and then we heard the sales team took over 100 people to Nascar Hall of Fame in NC for a week for celebration and appreciation on how bad they did & firing people month earlier. Best way to spend money when you cut people? Linda - hope you have an answer here.

Let’s see what they do this time. They missed the Super Bowel event so maybe they will invite Taylor Swift to jam few songs for the sales team.

if they are in the process of removing us/eu employees with employees in the low cost regions, why would they impose RTO on the India office years ago before they did it in the us-eu offices ? also why would they only layoff total of 5% in 2 rounds in a world where other companies are laying off 20% of their workforce in one go, multiple times ?
Isn’t it normal that us having the most number of employees being laid off given the total headcount ? If they are replacing us/eu employees, when you look at the last round in summer 23, why did they laid off 53 employees in India, 49 in Philippines but only 10 employees in London office ? Also; number of laid off employees/total regional headcount ratio was the highest in India office in the summer 23 layoffs.

sales numbers are bad because of sales teams and managers and not engineers or consultants. However they fired engineers and good consultants in Americas. I am sure they did not fire any of the useless sales managers and leaders for their failure.

Chatgpt can sell better than some of these sales people they got. You should have fired them and not us.

The trend that this company has been following for the past couple of years is to remove/replace US working employees with substitutes is low-cost employment regions (Manilla, India, etc). If you are a US or EU employee, chances are your number will come up sooner or later. This is a planned move that continues to accelerate. Anyone that doesn’t see this is fooling themselves. No matter what the ELT says, Phil or Helen or anyone else, this appears apparent.

some serious brain drain is happening right now from product managers with a decade-plus of experience to key strategists being let go... and this is just on the client-facing side. mandated return to the office likely deliver blows on the engineering side. good luck to anyone taking on their projects

Thanks a lot to the head of consulting and Americas sales leaders for letting good consultants go meanwhile keeping some mediocre sales people around who can’t sell or be in the office. Very Sad.

I’m so sorry to hear that, fu-k. These corporate overlord pigs have no heart. To be honest I’m not sure, they’ll pull the “at will” employment sh-t and then you’ll have spent money on an attorney. Unless you have documented proof that you were discriminated against on the basis of your pregnancy. They claim that people weren’t selected based on any of their life circumstances, but regardless of the truth they’ll deny deny deny.

I am pregnant and got laid off during my pregnancy. Can I sue the company? Should I hire a lawyer for this?

We are told the laid off is officially over on Feb 13th, 2024. Can anyone confirm if that is what you are told?

The timing of this is also a middle finger to those impacted… going to squeeze every ounce of value from you and keep you here as long as we can but still cut you loose at the end of the quarter so that severance will not be paid/allocated to Q3. They knew damn well who they were going to cut early on in the process but kept those people around. Those people let go were working on projects sometimes as the sole person and now that work is left in limbo for the rest of us to pick up. Thanks a lot FactSet.

2 weeks is honestly pathetic , other companies are minimally offering a month, so it’s N+1 or something.

Regardless , we don’t have a choice

Someone said on Glassdoor that severance was 2 weeks for every year of tenure, but I’m sure there’s a limit to that.

Anyone has insights into the rationale behind the lay off decision for certain people? Did the direct manager pick out name for higher level to choose?

I was laid off after decades of 1s and 2s so no one is safe but so happy to be on the other side now.

2% out of 12k ≈ 240 employees affected. Based on the updates in this thread seems that we only get updates from Norwalk office. Anyone from EMEA affected?

Can confirm they are going down right now.

Some very excellent people seem to be gone who were working on high profile projects...

If only we would spend any amount of time finding them new roles than just blindly cut them.

Seems to have little pattern to the cuts. None that I can see anyways.
