Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Boeing Commercial Airplanes will return to work as early as April 20.

Boeing CEO David Calhoun says the company strongly suggests it will accept US Government funds to stay afloat. "Our industry will need the government’s support, which will be critical to ensuring access to credit markets and likely take the form of loans versus outright grants.”

Haters. Perhaps, this is a good time like never for all your unemployed and unemployable asses to get some skills and try your luck getting into the elite Boeing club. Not all of you will make it. Only the best and most diligent in their work.

It’s pretty awesome that we are already limited with masks and aren’t even all back yet.

I got told Friday to “please bring your own in next week as we need to conserve. It’ll be first come first serve with everyone coming back.”

Not everyone can find masks. Not everyone will be aware it’s a requirement.

I’m using handkerchiefs which I’m fine with. But when your told in one ear “you have to wear a mask” and in the other ear it’s “we don’t have enough so find something else....” Way to think it thru Boeing. It’s bad enough we should be staggering us back in over the next few weeks rather than all at once but...

Give me a break ya cheap b–tards. Provide the basics for the ones who matter. Oh wait, they’re working from home.

We’re just numbered minions.

ONE BOEING ONE LOVE
Is that in your resume? Now other companies know you're a liar. You better start thinking about where you're going to crawl to when you get an involuntary layoff

Look, I’m hoping you will get a better job but I think you might be in for some major disappointment. If you are unionized, there is no aerospace company like Boeing that cares about its employees and pays this much, maybe Lockheed, but that’s about it.

Just make sure you leave in a good standing cuz you might come crawling back to Boeing sooner than you think...

Sorry, but as long as the state is on lockdown I am not going back. The union has my back on this one at least.

You are absolutely right but people don't want to listen they just want to keep their head in the sand. I don't even know why they are on here if they love boeing so much it makes no sense. To force others into their delusional fantasy I guess? There's no understanding the insane, if they don't want to read the obvious writing on the wall then whatever. Ive already updated my resume. Can't wait to have an awesome summer and start a new job in aviation elsewhere

They should turn in all the leftover Tulley’s coffee cards and movie passes managers hoarded. That would help keep things afloat.

@1yoe+14voP3Gp.....”negotiate” means showing the government and trump that Boeing is reopening in hopes of getting that bailout money.

The union doesn’t negotiate that or really anything anymore....except when to raise our dues next.

@1tzv+14voP3Gp "negotiate", that is a very interesting word.

Unions were formed to "negotiate" fair pay and safer conditions.

So here we are in what could be the most dangerous condition in the past 50 years, where is the Union to negotiate for us? Crickets? Yeah, that's what I hear too.

So, we are back to the "good old days" before unions, when you went to work and were not sure you would come home safe. But today is different, in the "good old days" you went to work you might die there and your family was safe. Today, you go to work, get an illness that could k–l you AND you bring it home to your family.

And where is the union? Negotiating our safety, yeah, I thought so. I can't wait to get paid again so I can see my union dues come out.

How do you enforce social distancing at our factory?

We share everything from tools, computers, parts, space on planes, break areas, restrooms, air....I’m on a crew of 18 and we share 2 to 3 planes typically.

Staying home doesn’t pay the bills but throwing everyone back in all at once without knowing who has what is not smart.

Regardless if this is to negotiate for a bailout or to rush layoffs....staggering people in over maybe 2 weeks would better test the new safety implementations.

I personally want to get back to work. Not just for the money but I’m also bored as heck. And my family is getting on my nerves.

But I have a family member with health problems, as do I. Little apprehensive about rushing back in without knowing who does or doesn’t have this virus c-ap.

The voluntary testing is just a temperature check and questions about showing symptoms. Would be nice if actual testing was more readily available... especially with just over 1.5% of the state having been tested. Don’t have to show signs to have it so who knows who has it.

Assuming layoffs are coming soon, I dunno if I’ll be affected but I need this job, so I guess I’ll have to take my chances and get back to work. Unemployment don’t cover a family long....LWOP’s don’t cover squat.

Then what’s good for Boeing is good for me, all I care about is staying afloat and keep my $$$ salary. I don’t care if we build MAX at snail pace, as long as we do build them.

Boeing is just gathering the herd before the slaughter. They NEED the government "loan", which means they cannot induce involuntary layoffs until end of September. Once again, they could give two sh**s about your personal health and safety. They're going to do whatever it takes to stay afloat, even if it means building at a snail's pace, aircraft that nobody wants.

Yep, let's get back to production of aircraft no one is in a position to accept delivery of.
Makes sense. Not really.
Still no FAA approval for return to service of the 737 Max either.
Talk about having your head in the sand.
