Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Sometimes the decision to leave a job can become contagious

If a person who adds a lot of value leaves the company and the company does nothing for months to replace this employee (apart from distributing the workload to those who are still there) then leaving GM becomes contagious. I'm just saying.

When someone decides to stay at a job, can that also become contagious?
"Look at how happy Larry is at his job. I want to be like Larry."
Perhaps Larry has told his neighbors about his wonderful experience.
Some of those neighbors ask if there are openings in Larry's department.
As time goes on, Larry is spreading joy and inspiration to everyone around him. One of Larry's friends even becomes a mod of the GeneralMotors subreddit and decides to close it down to stop people from talking bad about the company everyone loves and cherishes. The love for General Motors becomes more contagious than ever before! Everyone is friends with Larry. Everyone wants to be like Larry.

Agree, like when somebody decides that they're tired of being the whipping boy and leaves, all the behavior that was directed at them has to be directed somewhere else. Don't speak up or it might be you.

I know you are but what am I.

Yes, GM is this bad.

True statement. Although, even sometimes when the company opens the hiring gates after losing talent, those newly recruited take months to upwards of a year or more to get up to speed. In our field, I consider anyone 12 months or less, to be irrelevant enough to lighten the workload of others.

Sucks for those that remain.

Bitter much? I can’t smell your desperation from here.

You get all those good for nothing free loaders. It's all their fault people like you can't live up to your full potential and help GM be the leader it is. Good thing GM has people like you to punish all of those deranged and mentally inferior employees that only you had the courage to identify in a completely objective manner with no influence from an inflated sense of superiority.

Good managers know. What are the odds you'll have a good manager, though?

"Managers don't know who adds value or is doing the work."

Good managers who are involved in everyday activities/projects know exactly who is doing what. They also know who is weak and who is actually helpful. They know who shows up, who volunteers, who complains, etc. But what would I know? Maybe you are invisible and can skate by as the economy recesses? ;)

Managers don't know who adds value or is doing the work.

Everyone is interchangeable to them.

The greatest cons work when the mark is convinced they have the upper hand.
What will you gain when you punish GM by leaving? What you lose?
