What’s the word around campus of layoffs in January?

Yes because even after we leave, we are interested to find out what happened, for sake of former colleagues and frankly, a bit of validation. I'm sad it didn't work out for CHK, at one point things were good and it made a big impact on many lives.
Chesapeake is just a company, one of countless and one of hundreds of its kind. It’s not the center of the universe or even prolific (anymore) in any way. Jeez, people act like they’ve been kicked out of a cult they loved and lost their community. Get a life and grow some callouses. Pull your head out. Chesapeake hasn’t been good to work for in a long, long time... but when you do go to work somewhere else, you’ll find politics & rumors there as well. If you do get laid off, be grateful you can move on. If you don’t get laid off, be grateful you keep paychecks coming. If you get a life, realize that leaving or improving your situation is totally up to you.
My life was almost entirely destroyed by the psychological devastation of the lay-off.
As someone recommended, you need to really be proactive and avoid it at all cost.
It’s an experience that I don’t wish to anyone, except perhaps for the VP responsible for my suffering.....
Always one person on here saying how great life is after CHK... and yet here you are!
So many people say their lives are so much better after being let go. I don't know how much longer I can last under this executive team. I wish they would let us volunteer.
It’s really not a great place to work at all I hope I get a package this time.
Nope, trust me I tried. Don't bother. They don't care about any of you including long term employees. I suggest taking control of your own destiny and getting out while you can and avoid the mental stress of a layoff. Post CHK living is wonderful.
Is it possible to request to be let go if they are offering severance?
Guaranteed
No matter what happens to the company there will definitely be more layoffs. BK emergence is another issue and itself quite optimistic.
There will be more layoffs before the conclusion of the bankruptcy process.
Pre-emerge?
I think you are very optimist right there.
The risk of complete liquidation is higher than ever these days. My VP didn’t look too happy all week.
