Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Layoffs coming?

I’m a relative newbie, still don’t know how it works here. But everywhere I turn I hear rumors about coming layoffs.

Yes. It’s not if but when. PBNA will feel it.

There are layoffs every year. In light of the weak earnings call, I suspect cuts will be deeper this year. That said, if you’re new, it’s likely you don’t make enough to be of the radar. Learn all you can while you’re with PepsiCo. Know when to exit (year 5 or 6).

I don’t know what your situation was that prompted you to join this horribly managed company but I am guessing had you read this portal you would have stayed far away. I have been in the labor market since the 1970s so I’ve seen a lot. This is by far the most stressful, poorly managed, hostile company I’ve ever been associated with. The current business model is if they can find a way to dump you and replace you with a low paid employee in a third world country- they can and will. The CEO is a slick spin master and will paint a rosy picture for the board of directors and Wall Street on his quarterly “pep” (pun intended) rallies, but he knows all too well this is a sinking ship. They arrogantly overprice their products during a period of economic uncertainty and stress and tell us consumers will su-k it up and pay. Instead of listening to the consumer, they’ll just cut cut cut - head count but not prices. Use this place as a name on your resume and nothing more. Many employers know the terrain in this place is very rough and will look favorably upon anyone who can survive this house of misery. I’m very close to retirement age - months actually - and just biding my time here but even that is becoming unbearable and I may head for the exit early. Good luck. Not always the case but around here the grass is likely greener on the other side.

Sorry to say but if you are looking for job stability you will not find it Pep. They layoff every year, and are in the midst of working through additional layoffs in S&T due to bad management. You should start looking now while you still have a chance.
