Good luck bakery teams you will be merging with coffee bar company wide. Whole Foods doesn’t learn combo teams don’t work. Good luck making coffee and dumping it every 30 minutes, but make sure you are not going over in your shrink or labor. Ha! What a joke!!!!!

Here, we’ve been bakery/coffee bar/juice bar for years. We tried the 30 minute spoilage for our daily brew back in late fall/early winter but our team is small enough as it is and it was crushing us having to take the time to track spoilage and re-brew coffee. Our floor sup, TL, and our TE (who had a lot of influence) all said no more so we stopped.
I finally had my first cup of allegro after hearing for years how bad it is. It honestly tastes like my granny's old percolator piss coffee. How can it be so bad?
PFDS have negative numbers for all the useless TmS they have on top of all the food “Guests” steal from store.
For the people asking who will be doing the buying.... Yes, bakery will be responsible for all of that. So bakery buyer will most likely be doing the coffee and juice buying, but that's up to the TL.
We can loop "Bakery to the Coffee Bar", on the PA System to play every five minutes. I don't know what was louder the collective cries of rejoice and exuberance of the specialty TL's or the defeated moans of bakery TM's!

It's not a combo team. It's a sub team that already is a part of bakery in most regions. Seriously, do half of the people on here even work at Whole Foods?

To the commenter from Florida- that’s normal. Right now specialty has beer and wine and coffee and juice. Cheese is in the back. All the other are at the front of the store. You walk back and forth if you need to.
Can someone respond if the Coffee buyer position is being Transferred to Bakery?
I currently work in the Bakery Florida region for WFM and we have just announced and a mandatory immediate meeting with Bakery dept and Specialty(includes coffee bar) . Very curious what this is pertaining to because both departments are sh-- shows and we cannot fathom how this “merge” will work especially when we are not located besides each other . Our coffee bar is in the front of the store and our bakery is in the back corner ?

Every region has always had their various ways of doing this - sometimes coffee bar could be specialty, pfds or bakery - apparently bakery won out when they were deciding on a consistent way to do this across the company. Referring to how things used to be 'back in the day' isn't valid because it probably only applies to one region and not the majority. Coffee bar and juice bar all go to Bakery on 10/1.
the regional/global guys can never make up their collective minds...and sometimes the dumb decisions come from a new person in charge wanting to redecorate the departments..or supposedly clean house and install their friends in positions through skillful nepotism and the such...always good to have yes men...but ive seen coffee go from bakery to specialty(under data reunification????) and now we have allegro teams running it in florida...they are a separate team with their own tl...but it always made sense to be part of bakery to me...

Hated my bakery TL in Roseville, complete lazy piece of sh@t him and the supervisor, overpaid and lazy, they represent all the reasons to NOT work at WFM
Our coffee bar is a constant sh-- show. It is ignored by the team leadership. Not once have I ever seen the TL help when people call out. They just close it for the day.
What’s the source on this? Coffee bar has always been region choice in terms of team. Specialty, bakery, front end. Regions have switched before. What region in particular is switching right now? Haven’t heard of a global change

Coffee bar used to be part of bakery back in the day. It was a shock when it went over to specialty. I don’t see how it would make sense to give it back to bakery, but a lot of things don’t make sense.
Our coffee bar has always been part of the bakery. No way we make coffee every 30 minutes, though. We sell maybe two airpots of it all day. We wouldn’t be allowed to order enough coffee to brew it that often. Not that Allegro would send it to us anyway. We’ve been unable to get this month’s “daily brew” for over a week now.
