Tech has become blue collar. Those who will work longer and for less will get the jobs. That's corporate responsibility in an age where corporations become the new moral compass.

You are more than a third of a century late to the party but welcome! We've been brewing the burnt stuff at the bottom of the otherwise empty coffee pots just for you!

This is so elegant, I'll flag it as #GOLD:

Outsourcing development to India just produces low grade software, however these days seems that quality is less of a priority that fast and cheap development, and all the convenient rationalizations that corporations come up to justify this.

This is about labour arbitrage. Nothing more. Nothing less.

1ztd - agreed America should get out of those places and yes the US dollar, the Euro, Chinese currency, the yen, and the British pound all have trading value but there are fundamental economic reasons for that. If you don't understand the impact of stable economies on currency look into it.

Here is a suggest perhaps the US should ban the Chinese government and other countries from buying up US companies and providing "special loans" to Chinese citizens to "purchase" Homes in the US and drive up prices. There are 3 on my street alone and I don't even live in CA!!

"My problems lie with the ones that come over just to make money and send it back to India."

That's how the philosophy of economic migration and survival work. Perhaps, India and China should ban U.S companies selling products and services there making money and putting local companies out of business. And America should get out of the middle east and rest of the world and stop dictating to other countries on what they should do including trading in U.S dollars which gives an unprecedented advantage to U.S.

From the article:

It is wrong of Indian tech companies to displace American workers by using H-1B visas to send low-wage engineers to the US, Chambers said. "We have to be careful not to misstep. You cannot go in and take a whole bunch of H-1B visas and displace 500 American workers because you can do it at lower costs. That was just a mistake," said Chambers, also the chairman of the newly formed USIndia Strategic Partnership Forum.

So, then why is Cisco hiring so many Indians in the US? Especially ones that are not US citizens? I have no problems working with Indians who live & raise families in the US just like I do. My problems lie with the ones that come over just to make money and send it back to India.

Come on, JC, kick CR & the ELT in the seat of their pants and make upper/middle management start US hiring of US citizens again. And stop laying off the older US workers "because they're too expensive".
