To all of Macys defenders you may still enjoy your job and make a decent living but keep in mind you are now working for a cheap and crummy Syndicate. Corporate takes the ideas from the most talented ,uses them and quickly toss them out . Many of the wonderful newer people realize this and don't stay. High turnover rates create lack of communication, mixed messages and no standard of quality. There is no leadership. How can you attract the brightest and the best to run the company. Too bad. it used to be a great place to work. Macys does not value its people.

It comes down to pay . I was in a director level .
We found ways to terminate when we could no longer support salaries. We would rename the position change a few objectives and pay the new position 50% less where possible . We had long term people who made too much for the position .
Rarely do executives leave on good terms . Sign the papers and take the package of we will make sure everyone knows that you were d–g through the mud, harassed and terminated .
That’s the magic of Macys 🤩
Get off the hamster wheel people . Macys is definitely the titanic . It’s going down and it is sad.
The senior management is ineffective . They lack vision and strategy . I worked there and for many years loved it . Then we merged 10 times . Cut anyone in NewYork that knew what they were doing to save money . It was a train wreck that trickled down to the stores . They continually changed the goal line . Most of the objectives and strategies were way off . They forgot who they were and why people shopped there . They had more district personnel than sales associates and the senior leaders were way out of touch . Visits were a 3 act play . S—ing up to dumb ideas .
There was no collaboration . Just retaliation and humiliation . There is more out there . I had a great job and was highly recognized . I couldn’t stand the decisions that were being made . The way the leadership pretended to be making a difference .
The just wanted to pretend so they can walk around and point their finger .Start with Jen Williams .My hope is that Jeff realizes what he has and Cleans house . I want Macys to make it .
It is America’s department store .
You have more to offer . There are better options out there. I promise you . I couldn’t be happier .
You will be too.
It’s all about who you know in NJ district. My store has so many good and knowledgeable people that are undermined by the the yes people of the building. The hardworking people get tired and frustrated by the management that loves just to hear yes. Hardworking people’ Ideas are Great once they come out of yes people’s mouths.
People with true talent and creativity quickly realize that Macy's is a black hole when it comes to innovation and forward-thinking. Which is why they eventually leave for greener pastures.
Macy's has rarely valued innovation and knowledge. There is a group of corporate leaders (Many from the old Macys East division) that are protected and keep getting promoted. It's the same awful people making the same awful decisions year after year as the company continues down its death spiral. There is NO vision, NO leadership, and NO idea how to fix any of it. More cuts are coming...its the only thing they know. I truly feel terrible for those of you stuck there....life is much MUCH better after the red star.
It’s also corrupt managers that throw the best to curb
