Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Attrition declined in 2022?

My group is loosing some young engineers in 2022, but far fewer than were leaving at this same time in 2021.

Also no more RE left in my group so none to leave in 2022.

Attrition way down?

Is this typical across most groups?

May be true in some groups, but not by the number of #cubepics still on LI.

Doesn’t matter. DW won’t change course. PIP for the win!!!

Last year many essential workers at my site that were put on the NSI list to achieve the 8%, but there was no need or intention to get rid of them.

Many took the PIL and departed immediately. A huge recruiting effort was required to replace them.

I predict a perfect storm of attrition for this coming summer:

  1. Many have likely lined up new jobs and waiting on school year ending to relocate.
  2. Many of the 8% PIP will take the PIL due to hot job market.
  3. Interest rate increase in next quarter predicted to reduce Lump Sum by 7%. Fed promised to continue increases so Lump Sum reductions are greater than salaries- losing more money than earning if stay.

Probably will start contract hiring annuitants to keep production going!

Mostly just oil-boilers and wrench-turners left where I'm at.
Old ones.

lots are leaving - expect another uptick once closer to summer, lots of parents wanting to finish the school year before quitting / relocating.

Forecast increases in interest rates will motivate retirement eligible people to leave in next 6 months.

DW does not care and is demanding 8% PIP.

Seems like EM Dallas office needs huge layoff to get rid of the id--ts that put the company in such poor condition while also saving money by not having to pay for those id--ts to relocate to Spring.

There are fewer people left to leave, hence it may feel like attrition is slowing. However, those who have stayed behind are probably much less engaged/disengaged to begin with and not thinking about a long term future with EM anymore.

Attrition in IT is definitely constant, if not up… a lot were waiting on 2022 raises before deciding. I know several supervisors that claim they will start job hunting if they force another 8%

I would say flat to up on attrition rates in Baytown.

I'd say at least consistent in my group. High both years.
