So many posts here comment on how they were not treated well by Lowe's, how they were not respected, or valued... Have you been here for 5 minutes?? Lowe's has always been like that. This company was never your family and it never saw you as anything other than a number. If you learn to accept that once and for all and treat Lowe's the same way, you might actually be happier here.

Why is there a sign on the front apron “WE ARE HIRING” still up ?
Managers avoid helping with the customers
You have one specialist covering multiple departments
Xpo is constantly damaging customers merchandise.
Backrooms full of freight
Topstock is over the limits
Then Mkt Mgr and HRBP are clueless !
At our store they hired some Walmart sweat shop managers, who promptly laid off all of the part time employees for two months, and now that we are in high spring season and have no one to call back to work, because the laid off part time workers found other jobs.
I’m tired of hearing from customers that “American’s won’t work” Not true! We had people standing by ready, willing, and able to work, and Lowes laid them off.
Corporate America is greedy beyond belief. At Lowes every year has to be a banner year for the stock holders and Managers who bonus. The employee’s aren’t family and customers don’t matter it’s a lie.
Instead of blaming upper management for such a disorganized and soulless institution that is never going to change, for the sake of academia let’s analyze the common denominator of psychological impacts retail has on the human psyche. PTSD symptoms from lack of sleep, the constant as----ts on self esteem and the health impacts from being controlled by a software algorithm. What happens to your mental health, when the majority of your waking hours are consumed with the te---r of being terminated? The underlying hum of financial insecurity that influences every decision, like a soldier in battle, day after day. What are the long term psychological consequences? Who here on this platform has noticed mood changes?
C'mon man! ASMs earned that 6k! You know how difficult it is to play hide and seek with customers? Stand around and di---e on our phones? Avoid all interactions by locking ourselves in the training room for our "meetings"? Cozying up to all these cute young things we hired. We're role models people!
Have you hugged your ASMs today? You really should appreciate us more..marvin did
Soon enough Corporate may find out how quickly the employees can sink this ship. Marvin is probably running scared with the stock price down to $192. You can't keep screwing your employees over like they've been doing for the past 2 years. Staying open later than everyone else during the pandemic so you could sell that essential paint and mulch. One discretionary bonus(that supervisors, full and part timers got screwed on) isn't going to do much when morale is in the toilet. I can't wait for this year's BEST Survey. I am going to deep fry corporate on it just like the last time. And believe me, thousands of employees did as well. Giving ASM's $6000....6 times what supervisors got, 7.5 times more than a full timer and a full 15 times what a part timer got. It's nice to see what the people who make a difference are worth.
Lowe's corporate needs to do an about face on how they treat employees. Marvin needs to quit glorifying anything he is doing and take stock in the situation he has created. Employee morale is down nation wide. How LTR isn't totally in the red is beyond me. We at the stores are the one's who make the sales and take the abuse. We need to be paid fairly against other retailers and not just Home Depot. Marvin can have his vendetta with Craig Menear. Just don't try ki----g Lowe's employees in the to achieve his goal. Too many employees on the edge of burnout is a recipe that could easily sink this ship. He needs to stop with the podcasts and all the irrelevant distractions he likes to hide behind. He and his cronies need to stay put in corporate offices and stay out of the stores.
The only way to fix any of this is to unionize the stores. Once the union is in corporate won't be able to do anything they please without the risk of the stores shutting down from employees going on strike. Lowes is not amazon, they can't survive without stores, they are not a factory, they can't shut down and move overseas. We all deserve much better then we are getting from the company, 1% raises with inflation through the roof is unjust.
I agree with the 19 year lowes vet, I also been there almost that long. It was a good place to work until the disastrous Ellison era. THEN, it took a completely anti-employee and extreme corporate greed approach.
How long have you worked for Lowes??? Lowes use to be a great place to work for I should know I worked there for 19 years. Ever since Marvin took over he has driven the company straight into the ground. Those are the facts
So sad, lot of point on post's in this thread. Right Bill brought Marv in to rake they already have when it went covid 262, now back to recession type stuff no employees or coverage! Still Home Depot doing the same......it's hard t f...k up a top company. People need... Pro's need...... just sad could of got to the same point, if someone just cared and wanted more! Everyone sells out when you're talking millions!
I truly believe that Marvin and crew were hand picked and brought in to steer the ship into the iceberg. The vulture who really run this company ...the Ackmans & Shaws of the world wanted this exact plan. It has become a shell of what is was, like many if not most of the major corporations today. Sadly the way of the world.
Fight back by doing everything halfass, wrong, slow etc
Corporate stooge scurries in and starts pointing at the heaviest topstock to be moved ASAP. GO TO LUNCH. GO TO THE BATHROOM STALL. GO TO THE BREAKROOM. Can you realize that most all this "work" we do is meaninglessness? How does it help? What are we really accomplishing? Let the damn customers find their item and go buy it! Stop micromanaging to justify your miniscule existence! Ignore your SM ASM and ALL CORPORATE. Let them blow out their knees on the ladder or throw out their backs moving 67 toilets in topstock. STOP GIVING THEM POWER OVER YOU.
Honestly you should all quit. It’s a godforsaken slave plantation
It's sickening that Marvie, Small Hands, and Billy Bee raked in fortunes in compensation and bonus due to the Pandemic and Govt. Stimulus all off the backs of us front line employees (many of whom died from Covid as a direct result). Now, Marvie and crew are gonna rake in more bonuses by cutting as many front line people as possible and forcing the ones that are left to work in unbearable conditions in order to falsely drive up profits on whatever sales there are. It will take another 1-2 years for their true incompetence to be revealed, at which point the Board will give them golden parachutes to drop down on their retirement Island. The rest of us will still be here running the store.
Way back in the day there was a website called “ lowes blows”……I remember one of the “contributors “ made a comment that turned out to be prophetic. He stated that we were in a be “ age of the shareholder….woe to the chairman or ceo of any company that put its employees over the shareholders “.And look at us now…..
Working conditions were better, as were benefits, when I stared at Lowe's near 20 years ago. They have gotten worse and worse as changes in corporate brought in the worship of Shareholder Value by all means of cost cutting.
Of course they're not family. Would you invite your family over for cold pizza? Oh sorry! there's no toilet paper in our filthy bathroom we refuse to clean! Oh and yeah..no paper towels or soap! Sorrreeee! We can't afford that stuff. Hope you brought your own water! Hey family members! You are letting me down! You're not doing enough for me! And just for that you're going to work harder to clean my house!
Lowes is a sweatshop folks. You are a nobody in corporate's eyes.
