Consider yourself lucky, take the vbo and use the time to find something else to do. Heck some people are getting enough paid time to get a master's degree. Do something with this opportunity. There is life outside fidelity. There are plenty of people here who are saying the same. The reality is that profits are primarily market driven. They will turn just as quickly as the market turns south. There are way too many people to support a business without the bull market we had. and the firm know it. It's a very generous offer...don't discount it in your stubborn belief that you are somehow valuable. Think this through.
I was a casualty in the 2017 white male purge. I was told you’re losing your job no matter what so take the package. An additional 2 heads were eliminated in my department and of course all vbo and riffed positions replaced by younger female workers.
If you got the VBO offer, then I suggest that you take it.
Last time the VBO was offered, a ton of people who decided to not take it got laid off after the offer expired.
If you got a VBO offer, then you are on the list for removal. You are leaving whether you like it or not.
If you don’t take it....I would be very concerned about your longevity with that place. Unless you have a skill that makes you superior that is. I was there for half of my life and now just over 50. The job market s—s, but might be better than looking over your shoulder.
The comp depends on the number of years in service min is 6 months comp
First off, lets be honest and remove the V from VBO. I am over 55 and not be happier with taking the BO. I don't fit in anymore. I feel for anyone younger than 55 who this happened to, though.
No one got riffed it’s a voluntary buyout and an extremely generous one. The company has had record profits and has hired thousands this year and last.
it is my understanding that anyone with in a sniff of this VBO, (that is not high high up), did not get any P shares for those that were eligible this last bonus payout. it seems those p shares went to the younger, aka more diverse crowd. that does not seem fair, by any means, a good attorney could probably find wrong doing. there is a lot of very talented people that will take this, and i don't begrudge my younger counterparts. It has changed a lot since Covid, good or bad, i will miss many friends but no so much the poor decisions of upper management (in our group)
How many weeks of pay per year with the package? 2?
They keep RIFing their experienced and talented people and then wonder why it’s getting harder for them to compete in the industry.
UPS, why would u not check your emails?
OMG I just got a VBO letter delivered to me via UPS
