Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

When’s it gonna happen?

Hearing all sorts of dates now:

Week of 9/18?
First week in October?
November 1?

I just can’t imagine the EC will keep folks past their usefulness to the acquisition, which will be mostly finished this weekend.

Based on the past, they time it for the same week as when we are paid. I would place timing week of 10/9.

Reminder: 2019 Layoffs (4 Yr Anniversary coming up Sept 18th!) What’s the hashtag here #bettingerbodycount or is #bodycountbettinger more fun. Word is that it will be more 5% / $500 mmmmiiiilllion, and that Word is coming from MDs who had to rank their depts. #bodycountbettinger doesn’t like to disappoint the Street. Use that Sick Time!!!

Search Severance on the Schweb. After notification, you are gone, don't have to come to work, unless you are recalled. But you are on payroll for 60 days, and continue to receive regular pay, benefits, elected deductions that includes 401K employee contributions, 401K employer match, HSA contributions, and etc.

I'm a little lost with people mentioning the 60 day notice period as we were told by our MD that layoffs would be immediate, the day they let you know is the day you're gone.

Just some points to figure out the date...

  • They want to put this on the books this year, October 29th is the drop dead date to notify and still get severance on the books in 2023.
  • Dennis said he couldn't see laying off people around the holidays. If you want to avoid the week of Thanksgiving, then officially you would layoff on November 17th, subtract 60 days for notification and that drops you on September 18th.

I think there will be several dates or waves. They can’t lay that many people off on one date, can they?

Heard business, marketing and digital first then STS. That would make Dennis Howard’s announcement true but not the whole truth.

@1atd+1olRyr8Y the credible source is Dennis Howard himself. Any other conjecture on here is false.

9/18 is D Day. There is a hold on my MD’s calendar and a fancy dinner that night to celebrate!

I'd take a vacay the week of 9/18. If its approved then you're likely safe. Actually, they'd probably approve it, and then call you to let you go. So, plan a vacay the following week?

I heard they cancelled the layoffs.

Ok.......... a little bit of optimism at a time like this can't hurt.

Our team is working on our 2024 budget and said it’s due October so layoffs will most likely occur some time in early october

October since there will be less people in office then with the location reductions. That’s why they delayed RTO for all and Rick made that pretty clear earlier in the month. I’d say all would be complete by earnings mid October.
