Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

GM layoffs as a result of corona?

Is it likely? Maybe I’m paranoid.

Mary is a social justice warrior fighting a battle on 2 sides. Social justice and the environment. Cars and trucks are just something in her way - a despiser cash generator to fund her social dreams. It is what she knows since she was the head of HR. She said herself that GM is a tech company and not a auto manufacturing company. She looks in envy at Silicon Valley and sulks that she is not held in awe like the Valley. So the more stubborn she gets in pushing her agenda and GM cars and trucks suffer.

Bottom 10% performers? You kidding me? This will be another excuse to hit middle aged white men, regardless of performance, to make way for the dim bulbs of the lack-luster millenial segment Get that fresh new and diverse look Mary wants. The hell with performance.

Gm alienated a lot of people. People that will never come back.

Yes, the Corny virus is disrupting, but it's not the end of everything.

they just cut 20% pay across the board, that is a desperate measure to save cash. This tells everyone how fast GM is loosing cash. For someone who mentioned balance sheet reserve $32B. With shutdown like this, that cast won't last, most of it will be gone paying for salaries with no revenue.

No details have come out from HR. Fake news. The company is sitting on $32 billion and can weather the storm much better than our competitors. Go away, bitter trolls.

Details coming out from HR. Terminations will be done remotely. Send in your badge and signed severance letter to get your last pay check. Size of severance TBD, but not that good from what I hear.

Over bloated GM is a prime candidate...from ex-employee who got laid in 2018....even 99 cents gas wont help buy gas guzzler SUVs from selling this time

Yes it is likely especially if they can't come thru making ventilators. All vehicle manufacturers are expected to see large declines in sales. People have learned their lesson with this pandemic and economy and jobs hit. They will be doing more saving for a rainy day in the future not spending money on big ticket items like cars and vacations for a while.
