Thread regarding Sears layoffs

For those on here saying "Pebble it"

This says it all @UdnxviM-bkk.

This person accurately describes to the "T" the reason why Pebble cannot be relied on to get answers to any questions.

I also wanted to add that on Pebble you cannot discuss amongst your peers how situations are playing out store by store and how it is affecting yor abilities to do your job timely and efficiently. You can't ask a lot of questions because the questions will be deemed negative, especially if you're asking about getting supplies you don't have, because then it's "a bad reflection on the company" (quotes from my store manager). It is construed as falling "below the line" and the people they pay to moderate Pebble will find out who your manager is and complain about your post to them, and that's if your store manager doesn't get to you first.

But for some odd reason, it's okay to go "below the line" and talk negatively about customers. There's actually a Pebble group that does this, Tales from the Salesfloor, and they make fun of customers on there. Sure, some customers can and do make an a-- out of themselves but I am not sure its okay to talk negatively about customers on the clock but on the other hand, you can't talk about not being able to order supplies, not getting merchandise your store has been out of for weeks, not being able to get more hours, etc. nor are you able to inquire about getting help with these "negative" issues.

Evidently, the moderators let things like the customer bashing slide because that group (and many others) still exists. I guess as long as you don't talk about SHC and the "transformation" in even a slightly negative manner, it's OK.

You can also find groups on sports, movies, video games, religion, politics, dating, relationships...just about anything under the sun, and by the looks of it, they are well attended with tons of associates posting to those groups. Not only is it an abuse of payroll, it seems like Pebble is being used for anything but work related collaboration.

How are you going to damage a company that bought merchandise to sell instead of funding the pension fund or expanding severance, when the reason they can't take care of their employees, fix the heat or AC and has lights so dim employees can't see IS THAT THE COMPANY CAN'T SELL ENOUGH MERCHANDISE. I understand that sales metrics don't always adhere to common sense however if no one wants to buy what you have now, why buy more to sell? Sears is damaging themselves.

To the poster who said posting on here could cause you to get sued for damages -- what damages? Nothing posted on here could be proven to hurt SHC because it was posted on here.

@1twm Yet at the same time they ignored all of the employees wasting paid company time on there who were having non-work related discussions (and still are to this day). And some of those discussions are questionable in regards to being appropriate for the workplace. But an honest question about when somebody could come out to look at the heating system--no negativity, no insults, just the facts--is an offense of the highest order.

I was reprimanded for a very similar situation a couple years back. All I said was that our store needed tool chests, mechanics tool sets and specific tools and that it was a crying shame that we were missing out on potential sales (Fathers day, votech, etc), and asked if there was anyone who could look in to getting us some more and that I have customers and the recaps to back it up, but they don't want to buy online. If I remember right, I directed it to #invhelp and somebody up the chain complained to the store manager. I never felt so insulted yet some yahoos regularly get away with talking about getting drunk--or worse--on a company forum.

You gotta love this ridiculousness.

I remember a coworker sending a message on Pebble in regard to the store's non-functional heating system in the middle of a cold snap (over a week of sub 20s I think it was). This was back before the company had given up on HVAC as a whole. It was just a polite and well-articulated request on when we could expect repairs, as we had tried multiple avenues previously, and at this point employees were forced to wear coats and sweaters on the sales floor. Long story short, one of the higher ups on Pebble saw the message, sent a nastygram to our DM, who forwarded it to the SM, and that employee got a stern talking to.

@msj - You can sue somebody for going outside to check their mail and get their morning paper. It doesn't mean you will win.

Be sure to follow the id--tic lawsuit filed by the hotel that the Las Vegas shooter attacked from. They are suing the victims. It's a perfect example of being free to sue for any reason, but winning that suit is a completely different story. No judge or jury with two neurons to rub together will let the hotel prevail.

@Ufn2vLJ-msj Most people post anonymous from behind a VPN, it's entirely too much of a bother for the company or shareholders to sue lol . Speaking as a shareholder I appreciate the honesty and frankness here. There is no reason for how Sears is treating it's employees during the wind down process. The employees deserve to be spoken to frankly and honestly like the adults they are. They deserve to be told by management, "The company went out and spent the money from the citi deal like a couple of drunk teenagers and bought merchandise instead of paying you severance" They already know it so why not just say it? Did ANYONE explain to them that the term asset light means that the liquidation will be in house and the company will file bankruptcy when all of the assets are already gone? Has there been an honest discussion of a time line to the end? I am willing to bet that if the company treated their employees like the adults that they are there would be much less animosity. All I see is Sears being Sears and refusing to modernize and change ...AGAIN. I will not be suing anybody, I am holding on to what I have because I don't want to leave someone else holding the zero when it falls. Call me negative , or suppressive all you like, that will not change reality. For ONCE I would like to see SHLD address reality.

Remember you have to uphold company's code of conduct. Post anything here can get you fired and sued for any damage. Sears might not do it but it's shareholders will.

@oxq - Yes, I will admit that thought has crossed my mind. That is how disturbing those posts were!

This is a board about layoffs. Not inventory. Not processes, or any of your whiney little complaints.

If you can't Pebble it, do NOT pollute this board with work issues you can't seem to handle.

Pebble it.

Pebble is trash

@ayb - One has to wonder if that AP person is a serial killer and if we will eventually see their face all over the news as a wanted fugitive.

There was a Pebble "superstar" a while back who made several posts a day every day he worked and had a huge following. I think he was a softlines MCA or something like that. He ended up disappearing all of the sudden and the Pebble world stopped turning. I thought it was because he was finally canned for all of the time he wasted on there. No, it turned out he was arrested on some really bad charges (not anything related to Sears) and was going away for a really long time.

@OP - You're 100% correct, Pebble is nothing but a joke. You can't get answers to questions pertaining to your job and you can't address work related problems. However, you can spend all day on Pebble posting utter nonsense! There was an AP person posting the most grotesque and disturbing scenarios of what they wanted to do with perpetrators they apprehended. The moderators never had a problem with them posting those abhorrent vignettes. But if someone post an item that even hints at an issue at SHLD, they immediately get smacked down and called on the carpet.
