Is there anyone else who has struggled lately to find motivation for work? The atmosphere in the company affects me so it has become very difficult for me to do my daily duties. I try to find anything that would motivate me to get through the work day a little easier, but nothing helps. I’m not a depressed type by nature, but this company has literally squeezed the juice out of me, in every possible sense.

Exactly!!! Love it. That movie should be unofficial training video. That and the YouTube “So you want to work at Lowe’s...”
Waaaa. I’m so mistreated. I’m might jump off the top rack onto the gas grill displays this Saturday. I’ll show them!
In my store the customers are noticing. Some are complaining about short staffing. The answer is to tell them that there are indeed fewer people to help customers, and that IT IS CORPORATE LED BY CEO MARVIN ELLISON WHO DECIDED THAT CUSTOMERS ARE NOT EORTH STAFFING THE STORE FOR.
I am a supervisor and I totally feel the same way, the scheduling is a nightmare. Now in my store supervisors and ASMs still have a 4 week matrix rotation but the hours are all over the place and we are so short staffed I usually am scheduled at least 2 days a week not in my department because they have no coverage. Clopens are a regular thing but to me the worst is the close then mid or the mid then open cause it tricks you, I leave at seven and I have to be back at five the next morning, I feel like I have some time but next thing you know it’s 9 o’clock and I need to get to bed. Especially with Covid in our area almost everything is closed by 8 o’clock except for large retailers like Walmart etc. restaurants are closed at 10. I just had my 2 days off and I spent no time relaxing I was running around like crazy doing everything I couldn’t do on a workday. I live 35 minutes from my store so by the time I drive home and eat something I have to go to bed so I can be up again.
I personally think our current scheduling approach is contributing to burnout. In the department that I work (appliances) you simply do not have the luxury of coasting as there is ALWAYS a barrage of customers, phone calls and customer care issues to be worked. Often feel totally exhausted by the end of my shift and often have carry over issues to work the next shift. Never really feel caught up. To me the icing on the cake is hardly ever having two consecutive days off. For those of you that remember the "matrix" scheduling approach you remember what it felt like to be working that one week out of four that we referred to as our long stretch. With our current scheduling system it feels like we are always on our long stretch. Can't tell you how much more I feel rejuvenated after having consecutive days off as it gives me time to mentally disengage from work and re-engage with my personal life. I think if Lowe's had consulted with mental health professionals before going to our current scheduling system they would have thought twice as to how it was going to negatively affect our employees mental health and personal life.
