Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

What are your expectations for 2021?

I'm Alex Bitter, a reporter with Business Insider trying to learn more about PepsiCo (including any layoffs that the higher-ups might be planning). It sounds like something might be in the works for 2021, but feel free to reach out at abitter@businessinsider.com or on Signal at 808-854-4501 if you can chat about what you're seeing on background.

@ delm+18KmhRW3 did you have this same energy when AA weren’t being promoted prior to the 3years you stated? I’m sure you weren’t. I’m sure you were content with the conditions of the company and the discrimination that was going on towards poc. It’s a lot deeper than you think because you are in the inside looking out..

In the past three years we have seen an increased in the number of promotions for African Americans regardless if they are skilled to do the jobs. Of course PepsiCo finds ways to justify the promotion but we all know why the promotions are happening. Very sad

Pepsi should invest in their workers like Dominos who gave out a bonus to all of their employees. Pepsi is spending big money on LeBron who doesn't need more money but will take it from the working class. More money for the rich. Then they are spending all this money on charity and building the black and brown communities but they are laying off their workers and taking them out of jobs. Shouldn't they take care of their workforce first then give to charities with the excess? and try to keep us employed in the US? Then they are sending all of our jobs to India. That is their biggest initiative - GBS. Then India gave out huge raises, bonus, and promotions to those employees. Shouldn't those jobs remain in the US to keep our economy going? And age discrimination is real. They only hire through the college hire program so everyone is under 30.

Same story as the 30 year employee above. With the company for 18 years, in the last 2 years the reverse discrimination has gotten increasingly worse. Hiring and promoting to hit statistic percentages. Female managers being promoted to say we retain and advance 20% female managers. Promotions promised to me that I was being trained for, given to a female manager with ZERO experience. After a year, she still had no clue what she was doing. When interviewing, being instructed to hire a female over a male even if the male is more qualified. After refusing to hire based on s-x or race, things got worse. In 18 years, never one disciplinary action, not one. Always high PDR's and excellent run departments. Suddenly, lay-offs are coming and I'm being written up and told I'm not doing my job. I was not only doing my job, but I had to do my boss' job to. Working long hours at work and then evenings. Went to HR to discuss situation, feelings of reverse discrimination and concerns, wouldn't give me the time of day, completely blown off. Asked to transfer to a different department, I was one of the most senior managers and there were openings, they refused to let me transfer. Forced me to stay in a hostile work environment. Thankfully I found a better job and left before the lay-offs because I knew what was being set up to happen. Fire instead of lay off to save money. Never recommend or go back again. Full focus is on Hiring minority groups and to do that they have to make room. Watch out if your a white male.

AGE DISCRIMINATION. Also if you are not part of a “click” you basically are doomed to be laid off.

I can only speak for the FL portion of PepsiCo. I recently retired after 34 years of service. I retired because I was tired of the stress that comes with every day worried if today is the day they cut me loose. For my first 32 years I was rated as a top performer. Last 10 years averaged 8.2 total on annual PDR. Then received a 3 and then a 2 (2018 and 2019 scores). Does anyone care how a person who has lived FL for 30+ years feels when they get a 2 or 3 with no previous performance feedback? No, they do not. Not 1 conversation with HR or my manager during the course of the last 2 years about not meeting expectations. Not 1. Could that be based on age? Hmm. Could it be because of a healthy pension? I enjoyed the first 30 years, learned a lot from many great people. I have seen many, many people in similar situations. The only thing to need to learn now for those left is keep your eyes and ears open. It is not a matter of if, it is when. Just the facts

Most certainly age discrimination and bullying to help force people out. It’s a very ugly culture.

I think your story may already be in the works and is far more deep rooted then simply age discrimination. I heard a number of terminated employees have been contacted to provide input and substantiate claims that PepsiCo senior management intentionally manipulated IT outsourcing performance metrics which were then used to justify numerous terminations. It’s gonna get ugly :-(

AGE DISCRIMINATION ! I was a top performing employee and was terminated because I was with the company 30 years ... disgusting ! What’s worse, PepsiCo makes you sign a full release of any wrongdoings and Human Rights violations as a condition to get your severance. A great company ???? It is corrupt to the core !

Can't tell you anything about that, but whoever reports on the Kroger Companies, they can look toward me as I have got a LOT to say.

Kroger is in the process of laying off hundreds of older workers - IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC!

This is Senior management outside of Cincinnati. It's going to be a BLOODBATH.

I am hearing that atleast 500 employees of Pepsi Foods North America took the early retirement thus saving 500 jobs for other. Hopefully Pepsi Beverages North America looks at doing the same as i need this job for another 30 years
