Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Some very useful information for the erstwhile employees of intel in their fifties and were let go recently

The following companies are hiring (primarily in Bay area), where you can try your luck: Arista Networks, TiVo, Flextronics, Samsung, Cisco, Apple, Google, Nvidia, Salesforce, Workday, Rincentral. Of course, you might have to shift technology to suit their requirement.

For those that are tired of doing technical work and are not willing to learn anything new from what they have learned at intel, try at Walmart, Costco, Ross, Macys, JC Penney, Kohls, Wallgreens, Target, Tom Thumb, Frys, etc.

You might not be a good fit for the likes of McD, Pizza Hut, KFC, etc. as they will be looking for enthusiastic, smart and quick workers - the abilities that you would have already lost relaxing decades at intel.

That's cool.. Let the Indians work at Intel. You better look for something in McD.. They might be hiring someone to cut vegetables :)

Whatever we start discussing, the #H1B theme emerges over and over again

Gr 3 RCG Troll (last 3 posts), maybe you should pause on posting here and wait for puberty to hit, maybe a few life lessons, etc before all the presumption of old age=bad and name-calling. The adults are trying to have a conversation.

Ok. If 3-5 people are required to replace every individual that was let go, then so be it.. Afterall, the company knows how to handle such things than individuals who think they were holding the pillars of intel. The typical oldie attitude.. If a young H1B can easily replace an old fart, then that shows the real value of the work the old fart was doing.. And please dont tell me that ever since the H1B took over, the company collapsed due to lack of knowledge.. Nothing is a rocket science and everyone can learn things.. its just a matter of a few weeks..

My experience is exactly the opposite. A lot of the people that left had a ton of knowledge and worked hard. It will take 3-5 people to replace each of them. If you're looking to move up a ladder Intel is probably the wrong company - it's growth is largely behind it. Why not start your career at a company that values ideas over controls?

The fired farts from intel really deserve what they went through.. 90% of them have very serious attitude issues and behave as if without them, the company would collapse the very next day. Sorry to say this, but I was excited to see the many of such gentlemen from my department were let go a few months ago. Life has been better since then, as they are not there to bully me any more :) Now, I am able to work happily. I am grade 3 now, but as the road-blocks are gone, I will have a smoother way up the ladder.

You want to see really worthless posts, hqd? Check out the Qualcomm posts on this site (thelayoff.com/qualcomm). I believe they have about a third of the employees that Intel has, yet the $h|t that continually gets posted over there is very.... uh, disturbing. And there's a LOT more of it over there. Must have some very messed up employees there.
